It still seems like a dozen new doom bands are popping up
every week, and if we're honest, only a few of them stand out from the crowd.
Goat Major are definitely one of those bands whose first
songs already showed that something big was coming. Now it's finally here -
Ritual - the debut of the trio from Welsh.
Heavy low-tuned - fuzz-drenched riffing, pounding drums and
Tom Shortt (bass & vocals) sounds like Ozzy joining Uncle Acid.
The occult aura of early Kadavar and Green Lung meet Acid
Mammoth and Electric Wizard.
This debut album is full of dark and sinister pagan rituals
without drifting too far into occult doom. Bluesy Black Sabbath grooves and
proto doom, slightly scratching the sludge surface, psychedelic and heavy -
what more could you want from an album!
