Role Summary

Global L&D delivers management and leadership skills development programmes for all our people, and coordinates closely with practice groups to support delivery of legal training for lawyers. The team manages a large portfolio of face-to-face programmes, as well as a growing number of online and video-based learning resources.

The Global L&D team coordinates, and designs and delivers learning programmes and resources for all of the firm's offices worldwide, working as an extended virtual team with regional and local L&D staff in our network.

The firm aims to provide world class learning and development, to:

support development of legal and business skills in our people, enabling the firm to deliver exceptional service to clients and add value to their businesses;

facilitate faster, easier access to knowledge and learning for all our people and our clients; and

support ongoing international collaboration and integration of the Learning and Development function.

The key purpose of the L&D Assistant role is to be a key contact for and to assist course managers and coordinators in HR, Knowledge Management, Learning and Development and the global Events team on regulatory and compliance matters in relation to global programmes with a learning and training purpose. The role is part of a small team which coordinates our global lawyer and business services development programmes (both classroom-based and virtually), the regional/local delivery of global content, mentoring and coaching initiatives.

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables

The L&D Advisor is a key post in the management and delivery of global programmes and will work as part of a virtual team to:

L&D team members as appropriate to maximise efficiency and streamline processes for learning management and delivery, and train new team members in these processes;

Coordinate the global L&D offering for partners, associates and business services staff together with the L&D Assistant, Events Executive, PDR Administrator and members of the global L&D team to ensure that programmes deliver the best learning experience for participants;

maintain and update the firm's learning catalogue to ensure consistency, data integrity and relevance;

oversee the production of global course materials, working with the design studio, events team and other relevant teams, ensuring they are of high quality and adhere to the firm's brand guidelines

work closely with the LMS support team, and support the firm's LMS champions and administrators as a power user to ensure user adoption of new processes and functionality that the LMS provides;

manage L&D projects, such as new course design, and facilitate programmes both in the Centre and elsewhere in our network as appropriate to skills and experience.

working with the global L&D team and Centre L&D to support continuous improvement of existing programmes; assisting managers with line manager, faculty and participant briefings, competitive tenders, supplier service agreements and engagement letters and supplier selection as needed;

share best practices, support and advise colleagues across HR, L&D and KM on learning and development;

Key Requirements

Essential (General):

Educated to degree level or with equivalent industry experience as follows:

Fluent conversational and written English (other European languages desirable).

Ability to communicate key processes and technical aspects of role, and impact on all levels (analyst, customer, learner, stakeholder).

Highly adaptable, and ability to both multi-task and move from activity to activity easily.

Experience working as part of a global/large firm.

Flexible to travel if required (some national and European travel may be required on a monthly basis when supporting and/or facilitating programmes offsite).

Essential (Technical):

Excellent analytical skills, including reporting

Knowledge of learning management systems

Knowledge of SAP or similar (PeopleSoft, HRIS)

Application knowledge in the following would be desirable:

Microsoft Office 2003 and 2010 - Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint

SAP

Windows XP
