Senior Compliance Consultant within a six person team operating in a successful international Asset Management firm.

The role offers excellent exposure to someone looking to further develop their career in an asset management based compliance role. The position will provide technical research and consultation to support compliance programs and activities in all of Northern's international units but with particular focus on Europe. Acting as a partner to both Compliance team members and managers and staff in the business units, the incumbent will provide consultation and advice on regulatory matters.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

· Analysis of regulatory risks relating to market facing activities, related trading operations, the security of client assets, investment processes (including fund compliance) and eligibility of investments across Funds. · Analysis of regulatory and market developments, applying new regulatory initiatives to business activities · Providing technical research and consultation to support compliance programs and initiatives Being familiar with Northern's strategy, businesses, clients and products in order to provide timely and accurate regulatory and compliance advice to business partners on regulatory requirements · Contributing to the Compliance Departments assessment of the regulatory risks faced by the business · Working with business partners to initiate change designed to help ensure compliance across the business · Assisting in the development of compliance related policies and procedures · Providing ad-hoc project support as required · Designing and delivering compliance training to the business · Providing wider compliance support (including on business projects) as agreed and appropriate · Good knowledge of CASS preferred and be able to provide advice on CASS rules and regulations · Providing compliance representation at client meetings both pitching for new business or as part of the ongoing client relationship. · Supporting senior members of the department in the identification, planning and execution of the Department's activities.

Major Duties:

The successful candidate will benefit from having:

· Detailed knowledge of FCA Handbook · Proven experience in advising and/or monitoring of asset management business · Strong background in and understanding of investment management products and services with in depth understanding of securities and both cash and derivatives market instruments · Prior experience in the interpretation and analysis of complex investment management agreements, investment management guidelines, and regulations · An understanding of the competitive global business environment as well as an awareness of economic, social, and political trends that impact the organization's global strategy · Client focus - demonstrates clear understanding of importance of effective customer service, internally and externally · Cultivates client relationships and ensures that the client perspective is the driving force behind all value added business activities · Analytical ability to identify and understand problems and provide effective solutions · Highly motivated individual who has a proven record of using initiative to resolve problems · Ability to make decisions on their own and also to be a team player and effective communicator to ensure that issues are appropriately resolved · Excellent verbal and written communication skills · Excellent organizational and analytical skills · Desire to stay in front of new business/regulatory developments.
