Starting a new life in a new country can be a daunting experience for anyone, particularly if you are fleeing persecution and conflict.  Then add to that the need to learn a new language, work out where and how to access services, and build new friendships.

Baptist Care’s FUSE Mentoring Program works to assist refugees and asylum seekers settling into Adelaide by link them up with volunteer ‘mentors’.

Clara Tait volunteers as a FUSE mentor and she spoke to  Marnie Round about the two-way benefits between mentor and mentee, and why she wanted to use her experience as a migrant to assist newly arrived refugees and asylum seekers to settle into their new country.
