Milltek Sport as new partner and with own team in TOYOTA’s one-make cup
All GT86 CS-Cup start with exhaust system from the British manufacturer
TMG GT86 Cup starts fifth season on 25 March
Whoever listens carefully will notice the difference, because the racing cars in the TMG GT86 Cup will be racing on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife with a new sound in 2017. British exhaust specialist Milltek Sport has joined as new series partner for the popular one-make cup of TOYOTA Motorsport GmbH. Milltek Sport not only equips all GT86 CS-Cup racing cars with its high-performance exhaust system; it also runs it’s own car as Team Milltek Racing in the Cup.
“The new exhaust gives our Cup cars a higher torque and thus better driveability, especially in the low speed range,” explains Nico Ehlert, Principal Engineer Customer Motorsport at TMG. “In addition, the new system now ends in a single-flow outlet, this explains the great new sound of this year’s Cup cars.”
Milltek, based in Derby, brings more than 30 years of continuous exhaust development and technical expertise to the TMG GT86 Cup. From the beginning of the company’s history, Milltek has been involved in motorsport. Teams in the British Touring Car and GT3 championships place their trust in the quality products from Milltek, as well as the teams in the Blancpain Series and rallycross.
Dale Lomas, Business Development Manager of Milltek Sport Deutschland, explains the new commitment in the TMG GT86 Cup: “The VLN, and especially the TMG GT86 Cup with its attractive overall package, offer the best conditions. Where, if not in long-distance races on one of the toughest race tracks in the world, can we demonstrate better the quality of our products.”
The Adenau resident has regularly raced in the VLN since 2010 and knows the TMG GT86 from some guest starts in the V3 class. He added: “I’m really looking forward to the new challenge in a competitive series and can hardly wait until the first race finally starts.”
