I could ask the same question of many other countries. Germany, for example, has as many registered guns as they do unregistered ones. What’s that like with the knowledge that there are probably half as many guns as there are people in that country?
When you answer that, you have your answer for America. It’s not like I’m walking out my door each morning slipping on shell casings and tripping on guns tangled up and lying in the street.
Guns don’t emit magic rays that cause harm. Trust me, if they did, the vicinity around my house would look like a war zone. So there are a lot of guns in the USA. Big deal. Most of them sit quietly in safes gathering rust or dust. The lucky ones are allowed out once in a while to go to the range and do what they are designed to do.
America is a very peaceful place. I’ve been around guns for a decade, seen guns carried, carried guns myself and been to events where I’ve been surrounded by literally hundreds of guns (and sometimes explosives Boomershoot!) and never felt any concern or fear.
I trust my fellow citizens. To date, the hundreds I’ve encountered with guns in various forms have never shown themselves to be unworthy of that trust.
