If you have to fly today, you may want to call ahead. The nasty weather is causing delays and cancellations. Many here in Indy woke up to snow on their cars or on the ground with cold temps outside. There’s lake effect snow in northern Indiana and the Chicago area, however, we’re keeping our eyes fixed on the Eastern U.S. that will get the brunt of this storm system. Nearly 6,000 flights are canceled and the biggest school district in America, New York City, is closed today. Boston, and Northern Virginia schools are closed too because of the huge blizzard bearing down on the Northeast. About 50-million people in eight states are under blizzard warnings. Forecasters expect as much at two feet of snow to pile up by early Wednesday with temperatures 15 to 30 degrees below average for this time of year.

Normal operations continue today at the northeast Indy ‘Y.’  Workers called 911 Monday night after getting a bomb threat and finding something “out of place.” Indy Metro Police searched the Avondale-Meadows YMCA. Their search turned up nothing dangerous. YMCA officials want folks to know they’re open for business on this snowy Tuesday. This threat follows two others that were called in on the city’s northwest side at the Indianapolis Jewish Community Center.

An event to help young people with employment opportunities in the community is being held this week. Mayor Joe Hogsett and other officials, including Indiana Black Expo, announced a series of the Indy My Brother’s Keeper Youth Resource Fairs on Monday. The first of these fairs will take place on Thursday, March 16, at Fervent Prayer Church starting at 5 p.m., for youth between the ages of 16 and 24.

Indiana lawmakers want to make it easier to help domestic violence victims cut ties to their abuser. A plan headed to the House, as early as this week, would allow domestic violence victims to change cell phone plans. State Senator Erin Houchin says too often abusers have control over a victim’s phone, and use that to further the abuse.

About 100 manufacturing workers in Indianapolis will soon be out of a job. Saran Industries notified the state Monday that it will close its plant in June. The company says 110 people work at the plant on Post Road near Prospect Street. Some may get jobs at other Saran plants.

The Department of Veterans Affairs is holding off on cutting down an old-growth forest at Crown Hill Cemetery. The VA is planning to knock down dozens of trees, some thought to be hundreds-of-years-old, to build a monument to hold veterans’ urns. The VA bought the 15-acres of wooded area from Crown Hill in September of 2015. The length of the stop-work order is unclear.

He will remain a mystery…The Indiana man who won a $435-million-dollar Powerball jackpot wishes to remain anonymous. A representative from Bohemian Financial LLC collected the prize yesterday. The winner is a Lafayette native and will receive a lump sum payment of $189-point-one-million-dollars after taxes. He plans to use it to help his family, buy a new car and travel.

An Indianapolis woman who just celebrated her 107th birthday with a big party over the weekend is sharing her secret to a long life. Bernice Bohannon says the secret is simple; laughter and love everybody. She officially turns 107 today, but her blowout celebration was Saturday. Bohannon still lives at home and loves to quilt. Happy Birthday to her.

National…

The Secretary of Health and Human Services is rejecting a congressional report on the Republican plan to repeal and replace Obamacare. Tom Price says the Trump administration disagrees “strenuously” with the bi-partisan Congressional Budget Office report that says 14-million people would lose health insurance coverage next year under the GOP plan, also known as ‘Trumpcare.’  Price insists that the plan would cover more people and be more cost effective.

Senator Elizabeth Warren is ripping that GOP health care plan after the Congressional Budget Office’s report of how many people would lose coverage by 2026. The Massachusetts Democrat tweeted that the plan is “heartless” and “irresponsible” and cannot be allowed to pass. She also said that President Trump is “failing” as a president.

Weather…

Cloudy today with a few flurries or snow showers possible. High: 31 degrees.
