Wet and slick…those are the buzz words for Tuesday, the day President Barack Obama will bid farewell to the nation, live. (More on that below.) Good day to you…

Indy’s wild weather week continues with freezing rain taking center stage. Road crews across the city asked drivers to be careful Tuesday morning. Forecasters say a changing weather pattern will mean freezing rain early, then all rain later in the day. Parts of eastern Indiana are under a Winter Weather Advisory. Parts of southern Indiana are under a Wind Advisory. Indy will see a return of winter-like temperatures this weekend so prepare to bundle up.

Indianapolis Metro Police Tweeted out Tuesday morning a reminder to avoid Interstate-465 and Rockville Road. Traffic was shut down due to a damaged bridge and overpass because of an accident. They asked motorists to find an alternate route.

IMPD is also asking for the public’s help to locate a missing senior citizen. He’s 88-year-old Willis Bellamy, who was last seen around 10 a.m. on Monday driving his gray 2007 Chevy Cobalt. The Indiana license plate on his car is 590MTI. Mr. Bellamy frequents the areas of 29th Street, Martin Luther King Jr. Street, and Meridian and Illinois Streets around 38th Street. Police think he may be lost, though he’s not known for any mental illnesses or physical incapacities. He’s described as a black male, 5 feet 11 inches tall, about 190 pounds, balding with gray hair. If you think you’ve seen him call 911.

A former Lawrence North basketball phenom was found dead and investigators have more questions than answers. The Cook County Illinois medical examiner hopes to have more answers about Jordan Hankins’ death after an autopsy. Northwestern University officials say Hankins died Monday, though they’re not saying how. Hankins earned famed here in the Indy metro area as a basketball standout who graduated from Lawrence North High School in 2015.

A 14-year-old Indianapolis high school student is dead after what police are calling a robbery attempt that turned into a shoot-out. IMPD investigators say Earnest Sneed died early Monday morning when he and another man tried to rob two security guards at a bar in Beech Grove. Sneed was a student at Arsenal Tech High School.

Indiana’s new governor says he’ll spend each day in office focusing on “ways to take our state to the next level.” Eric Holcomb was sworn-in Monday as Indiana’s 51st governor. Holcomb noted that even though Indiana has nearly $2-billion in reserves and an unemployment rate lower than the national average, Hoosiers can’t become complacent or “take our eyes off the ball.” About 2,000 people were at the State Fairgrounds to watch the ceremony, including former Governors Mitch Daniels and Evan Bayh, and Vice President-elect Mike Pence.

Speaking of Pence, the Vice President-elect, his family and his pets are now in Washington DC. They left Indiana Monday after new leadership was installed in Indiana, for Andrews Air Force Base aboard an Air Force 737. The plane will officially be known as Air Force Two once Pence is sworn-in later this month. The family’s two cats, Pickle and Oreo, plus their bunny, Marlon Bundo, made the trip with them. They’ll all move into the Vice President’s official residence, the Naval Observatory, on Inauguration Day.

The confirmation hearing for Attorney General nominee Jeff Sessions is being held today and has now gotten underway. The hearing has already been interrupted by anti-Donald Trump protesters. Capitol Police quickly removed the protesters from the Senate hearing room. Another protester was arrested outside the room before the hearing got underway. Meantime, supporters are cheering Sessions’ nomination. Alabama Republican Richard Shelby cited Session’s decades of public service and his commitment to upholding the rule of law. It is the first confirmation hearing for President-elect Trump’s Cabinet picks. Protesters cite Session’s record on civil rights and what they call racist behaviors. Critics plan to press him about his views on race relations, voting rights and accusations of using racist language. New Jersey Democratic Senator Cory Booker is expected to testify against him.

Congressional Democrats want the Justice Department and Office of Government Ethics to investigate whether anti-nepotism laws would be violated by a Donald Trump appointment.  The President-elect has named his son-in-law Jared Kushner to be a top White House adviser. Kushner, who is married to Trump’s daughter Ivanka, does not plan to draw a salary and intends to sell off some of his assets. Lawmakers also want a probe into whether the job would pose a conflict of interest, saying it could potentially help Kushner’s business holdings. Read HERE to see why Kushner cannot serve in this role. (Click this link.)

Closing arguments begin today in the sentencing phase of the Dylann Roof trial. The prosecution rested its case on Monday. Roof faces a possible death sentence. He was convicted on federal hate crime charges for gunning down nine people, including the pastor, at historically black church Emanuel A.M.E. in Charleston, South Carolina in 2015.
