This last weekend, my mum came out to visit me for the weekend in Paris and kindly agreed to take a few of my things home with her. This included a few bits from my slightly *substantially* increased makeup collection. Seriously, working 10 minutes from the huge Sephora on the Champs-Elysees has not been good for my bank balance…

Whittling away my collection to the bare bones though did make me realise which products have been my ‘can’t live without’ this summer. My biggest one was lip colours, of which I don’t think you can ever have enough. In the end, I’ve kept 8 shades with me, which I know may sound excessive to some, but is actually quite reasonable in my eyes!

Seeing the 8 that made the cut made me realise how into my nudes and pinks I’ve been over the last few months. I’ve only ended up keeping two bold colours with me (both of them red, obvs) and the rest are all brown, pink or beige toned variations of each other… No shame!

The Nudes

MAC Velvet Teddy (full review): The must-have lipstick this time last year after Kylie Jenner named it as one of her most-worn shades, Velvet Teddy is the perfect peachy, brown nude. Great if you want to dip your toe into brown lips without going all the way!

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Stockholm (full review): Oh I am soooo glad NYX is available in Boots now. I honestly think it’s one of the best affordable drugstore brands out there! I love the matte lip creams as a slightly creamier alternative to a matte lipstick, and this colour is just perfect for me. It’s quite a peachy nude and I find it just looks so flattering with a tan. Look out for this in my upcoming makeup tutorial vid on my YouTube channel…

Chanel Rouge Coco Lipstick in Adrienne (full review): This has replaced my L’Oreal Collection Exclusive Lipstick in Julianne’s Nude as my everyday, go-to lippy. It’s a classic nude but just with a slight hint of brown and pink. Plus, who can resist that Chanel packaging??

The Pinks

Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick in Kiss Chase (full review): Out of all the lipsticks I’ve kept with me, this one has the most shine to it which means it isn’t the most wearable (I find it can transfer quite easily on to drinks etc.), however I couldn’t send it home as it’s just too pretty! A gorgeous bright pink which I love to pair with bright natural eyes and glowy skin.

Clinique Pop Lip Colour and Primer in Sweet Pop (full review): This is such a lovely lip product because it works to moisturise and hydrate your lips as well as give them a pop of colour… I featured this in my Spring Makeup Look if you want to check that out.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Milan: Another NYX lip cream… I seriously need a few more colours from this range as I just love it! This is much more of a bright pink than Stockholm and I love how it dries down to a gorgeous matte finish.

The Reds

NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Red Square (full review): I only kept a couple of reds with me for the next few weeks as I’ve definitely been feeling the more natural shades recently. Just in case though, I always keep a bright reddish orange with me as this can do wonders when you’re looking a bit tired! I love these pencil formulas as well as they’re so easy to use and last really well.

Chanel Rouge Allure Lipstick in Pirate: Again just in case, I like to keep a darker shade with me in case I’m in the mood for something more vampy! This is a classic dark red, a shade which always looks sophisticated and flattering.

The Gloss

Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector in Rose Shimmer (full review): The last thing that I really couldn’t live without was my ultimate handbag staple; the Clarins Lip Perfector. I’m not a massive gloss kind of girl, but this is the only gloss-type thing which floats my boat. I love how nourishing it feels – just like a balm! – and adds a very subtle hint of colour. Perfect for everyday use and top ups throughout the day.

These 8 shades should definitely get me through the next 3 weeks (god I’m ridiculous aren’t I?). And as much as I’m loving the nudes right now, I am quite excited to start rocking the bold berries and burgundies once Autumn comes around!

What have been your top lipstick loves this summer? Have any of these been in your collection?

Check back in on Sunday for a new post :)
