Now that the news cycle has settled down for the day, we were wondering what your thoughts are on the Android Wear 2.0 update and the LG Watch Sport/Style.

For those of you who are out of the loop, Google today announced the next major upgrade to the Android Wear platform. The update will bring a plethora of new changes including support for installing standalone applications via a Play Store built for smartwatches, Google Assistant support, Android Pay support (unfortunately not for those of us with unlocked bootloaders), and a whole host of usability enhancements. There isn’t much we don’t already know about the update given that the Wear 2.0 Developer Previews have been available for some time, but there may still be some small, hidden features we have yet to uncover.

Plus, it’s difficult to judge the software without experiencing it first-hand on an actual consumer device. That will change when we finally get ours hands on the LG Watch Sport and/or LG Watch Style (which were also officially announced today) or when one of the devices on this list receive the official OTA update. Until then, we’ll have to twiddle our thumbs in anticipation for Google to finally share the fruits of their work that they’ve been teasing us with for the past several months. But for now, we can at least discuss how we feel about the latest update and the new smartwatches. So I ask you:

What are your thoughts on Android Wear 2.0? Do you think the new features will convince you to upgrade/buy a new smartwatch? Will these features entice users to ditch the Apple Watch or Samsung’s Gear watches? What about the new LG Watch Sport/Style, do you think these devices will be successful? Which do you prefer, and why?

Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
