Hard to believe another 6 months have past and it is time to vote for OpenStack Tokyo presentations. In the months since voting for OpenStack Vancouver, IBM has made a number of exciting announcements around OpenStack and Open Tech:
February 2015 – launched the OpenStack-powered Virtual Machines (BETA) for IBM Bluemix.
May 2015 – announced the expansion of our OpenStack portfolio to enable developers and clients to be able to launch applications on local, on-premises installations, dedicated, hosted installations, and on public clouds hosted on SoftLayer infrastructure.
June 2015 – announced the acquisition of Blue Box, strengthening IBM Cloud’s leadership position in private and hybrid clouds by simplifying running OpenStack-based private clouds.
June 2015 – announced our commitment to Apache Spark and the offering of a Spark as a Cloud service on IBM Bluemix (built on the OpenStack Swift-based SoftLayer Object Storage)
June 2015 – announced the launch of our Docker-based IBM Containers service for Bluemix.
July 2015 – announced the IBM Object Storage on Bluemix Service Broker that integrates OpenStack Swift with Cloud Foundry, allowing fast access to cloud data without needing to know where the data is stored.
Building off our experiences bringing these open source projects – OpenStack, Docker, Spark, and Cloud Foundry – to market, you will see a number of proposals that talk through how we planned, built, and are now iterating on and operating these services. I encourage you to seek these sessions out and vote – no better way to learn than from the teams living it daily.
And, when you are done here, jump on over and check out the submissions from our new IBM Cloud family members at Blue Box: Voting is Open for OpenStack Summit Tokyo
