Guia Besana was born in Italy in 1972. After studying medias and comunication in Turin, she approaches photography and moves to Paris where she currently lives and works.
In 2005 her photo essay on Teheran was selected among the 10 finalists of Leica Oskar Barnack with slideshow in Rencontres de la photographie in Arles.
Her personal work has been exhibited in Italy, France, Spain, USA and Malaysia.
Guia was awarded with national and international grants: Leica Oskar Barnack (selected), AI AP American Photography, IPA Award, KL, PWP – Professional Women Photographers, Premio Amilcare Ponchielli GRIN 2011, Marie Claire International.
Since 2005 her pictures have been published in international publications such as Leica World Magazine, Le Monde, New York Times, Courrier International, MarieClaire, Vanity Fair, D di Repubblica, Io Donna…
