I am not shocked at all that Indianapolis Cathedral High School is a homophobic place that will bend or twist the rules for a dollar. Just last week the Archbishop told Cathedral High School in Indiana to fire a married gay teacher. If Cathedral did not abide by these rules then they would of had to separate from the Catholic Church and would not been able to do business as a non-profit and not get taxed. Well what did Indianapolis Cathedral do? They fired the gay teacher. I am not surprised by this decision, but I once attended and graduated from this school.
Even though I had some great times at this place there was a lot of racist comments said by coaches or teachers. One time talking about race Billy Peebles who is a white coach says to me that “black people gets everything”. Being that I was only 16 or 17 years old I did not know how to defend myself when those comments were made. Other opinions were made by white teachers when I was talking about black culture. So, no I am not surprised that this school represents homophobia or that they do not care about gay people. Indianapolis Cathedral could of easily told the Archbishop no and separated from the Archdiocese. They probably would of gotten even bigger donations just off of that decision, but no Cathedral High caved in.
The teachers and staff that works at Cathedral should go to work with a paper bag over their head on how embarrassing this news is. I have not heard any teachers resigning over this decision. These teachers are going to work not even caring for humans or taking a stand. No protest by the teachers and staff which is very sad. Tom Greer, Rick Streiff, Billy Peebles I am calling you all out who all work at Cathedral and do nothing. You all didn’t care about blacks but we all definitely know you do not care about gays. I played football and basketball at this school and I will never return to visit or support this school in any kind of way. Rest In Peace Cathedral High School.
