Pajhwok Report

KHOST (Pajhwok): As Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan arrived in Kabul, people in southeastern Paktia and Khost provinces staged protests against his visit.

The protesters termed Imran Khan’s visit as useless and asked President Ghani to demand sincere cooperation from Pakistan in the Afghan peace process.

“Pakistan is supporting terrorists and until the neighbouring country stops training terrorists, such visits would be useless. If a sincere neighbor, Pakistan should renounce anti-peace policy towards Afghanistan and work for peace in the country,” one of the protesters, in Paktia province said.

Mohammad Ali Jan Mohammadi said Pakistan supported different armed groups who were behind bloodshed in Afghanistan.

“Sincerity and good-will can be demonstrated in reality, not in a way to provide shelter and knives to murders to kill us,” he said.

Civil Society activist Abdullah Paiman said that Pakistan and Afghanistan could become good neighbors and partners in many areas provided that Pakistan sincerely cooperated with Afghanistan.

“I don’t know what benefit Pakistan gains from training terrorists. The country can restore its lost image by expanding ties with Afghanistan for economic and political means,” he said.

Some people also protested in southeastern Khost province against Pakistan and accused the neighboring country of maintaining dual policy towards Afghanistan.
