First Flight High School’s Alex Rodman continued her dominance in distance events at the 1A/2A NCHSAA Indoor Track State Championship on Friday, claiming the 1000 meter and 1600 meter titles at JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem.

The junior from Kill Devil Hills also ran the anchor leg of the Nighthawks’ 4×800 relay, sharing the top-spot on the podium with sophomore Jill O’Dell, and seniors Hailey Schreyer and Nina Perry.

Rodman now has four indoor state championships in her career, after winning the 1000 meter crown in 2016.

Perry ran 5th in the 1600 meters, while O’Dell was 11th. Schreyer finished 17th in the 3200 meters.

The First Flight boys also won medals in the 4×800 relay, with freshmen Zach Hughes and Aidan May, and juniors Kam Midgett and Skylar Stultz finishing in third.

Stultz also claimed second in the 1000, and third place in the 1600. Hughes was sixth in the 1600, and 13th in the 1000.

As a team, First Flight finished fourth in the girls standings and fifth in the boys rankings.
