Adomonline.com reports that highlife musician, Kwabena Kwabena has expressed disappointment in members of the ruling party who are casting insinuations and virtually insulting persons complaining about the energy crisis. According to him, persons charged with the management of the country should have been apologizing on a daily basis for failing to solve the dumsor crisis instead of taking it upon themselves to ‘insult’ the citizenry for complaining.
“I think they [administrators of this country] should be apologizing everyday to the people…,” he said.
Insults have been rained on celebrities who have taken to social media to complain about the effects of the intense power rationing in the country.
A former aide of the Chief of Staff, Alhaji Halidu Haruna described such persons including celebrities above thirty years and unmarried as ‘irresponsible and prostitutes’. He has since apologized.
But the Adult Music singer reacting on Accra-based Oman FM said such comments “shock” him as he believes it would have been prudent for government to be apologizing for the failure to tackle the energy problem, now in its fourth year, instead of raining insults on those who demand answers.
He revealed that he spends approximately GHC 100.00 on fuel daily as a result of the persistent energy crisis.
This daily expenditure and the five percent tax deducted from his income after every show, he said, adds to the reasons why he deserves the right to comments about politics in the country.
Kwabena Kwabena urged public office holders to see their mandate as service to humankind instead of lording it over the citizenry.
“Dumsor is indeed affecting us and in due course, you will hear from me [on it]…the President must sit up…,” he said.
