Every month we spotlight one of our Council Member organizations to keep you up to date with their most recent initiatives and events, what resources they provide and how you can get involved in their amazing work. The NWBC Group of Six includes the representatives of the participating women’s business organizations: Association of Women Business Centers, Astia, National Association of Women Business Owners, Women Business Enterprise National Council, Women Impacting Public Policy, and Women Presidents’ Organization.
The Group of Six leads the process of identifying, monitoring and analyzing programs, initiatives and policies currently at the forefront of their respective organizations. This committee works to educate the Council on new and existing programs that are making a difference in the advancement of women-owned businesses and assess opportunities for improvement of those programs.
This month we are featuring the Women Presidents' Organization, a nonprofit membership organization for women presidents of multimillion-dollar companies.
The WPO's mission is to accelerate business growth, enhance competitiveness, and promote economic security through confidential and collaborative peer-learning groups. They are an important player in the women's entrepreneurship ecosystem - with their release of an annual list of the 50 fastest growing women-led/women-owned companies worldwide and their annual conference which brings together prominent women business leaders to discuss strategies and share their unique experiences to build momentum on the role of women entrepreneurs in the broader entrepreneurship space.
Their strategic priorities for 2015 include:
Continue to maintain and improve the economic empowerment of women.
Help women accelerate their businesses and take their business to the next level through peer learning.
Build on their worldwide expansion objectives and build value of the WPO brand for their members.
Continue to promote and expand their 50 fastest growing women-led companies program.
Continue to promote and expand the partnership with the “100 Black Men” organization in awarding women of color.
