If you run a small or independent business, how can you promote yourself this Valentine’s Day?
The best way to answer that is to look at some examples of businesses that are crushing it this year.
A tasty Valentine’s giveaway
Becky Bean Bakery has been cooking up a storm on Instagram, with photos and videos of her Valentine’s cakes and cookies. She’s upped the ante by running a £50 Valentine’s Giveaway, advertised via a reel that features a giant cookie decorated with hearts, flowers … and a few Lindor choccies. Yum!
Her giveaway, which asks people to tag their Valentine, then repost and like the reel, has so far attracted over a thousand likes and comments.
An app-tastic Valentine’s competition
Taxi firm Take Me Solihull is promoting its new app via a Valentines-themed competition. A video on the firm’s Twitter page – which includes an ad for the app – invites people to comment with a guess as to how many roses are bought each year in the UK.
The nearest guess wins a meal out voucher worth £100.
A blog about the perfect Valentine’s vintage
Scottish wine merchant Alexander Wines has published a Valentine’s blog advising amorous couples on the best wine and chocolate pairings. Did you know that cake and champagne don’t always go well together? Unless you swap your bottle of Brut for a Demi-Sec, that is. Apparently, this has more sugar, making it pair better with cake! You learn something new every day!
This is a great example of a piece of timely educational content that can be promoted on social media to generate more attention for the business.
Valentine’s with a view? A special offer on a romantic getaway
Sometimes a good old fashioned special offer is all it takes. The picturesque Lake Hotel in Killarney is promoting its Valentine’s Day sale, with the help of some extremely tempting images of its hotel rooms, featuring champagne and chocolate-dipped strawberries.
The hotel is promoting the offer with relevant hashtags. These include #romanticescapes and, of course, #valentines.
Hopefully, this round-up of the most creative social media campaigns this Valentine’s Day has helped inspire some ideas. Even if what you sell doesn’t directly link to Valentine’s Day, there’s almost certainly an angle in there somewhere. How can you piggyback on Valentine’s Day to get some extra eyeballs on your content?
