Tall and dusky beauty Jamaica Elysse Ambal is your Binibini 21

At the tender age of 17, Jamaica Elysse Ambal won her very first pageant – Bb. Calamba 2011. It really helped that she was already standing 5’9″ then and possessing exotic features that really made her stood out among the candidates. But after that stint, she kept it low, even if designers were constantly recruiting her for runway shows.

“Ever since, I’ve always been a big-boned girl plus I’m huge. So it took time for me before I was able to do Fashion Week.”

Jamaica – who has no mix of foreign blood – was able to do work as a fashion model. But when the opportunity to apply as Cabin Crew of Qatar Airways came, she grabbed the chance to become one. She passed and got to travel for free as a result. Those were some of the happiest years of her life.

“The experiences that I had from working abroad and flying taught me a lot.

I’ve had several encounters with a group of backpackers who happened to be my passengers and who help other people- traveling while reaching out to the less fortunate. And finally last year before going back here, I was able to meet the people behind their organization in Nepal. I went to Pokhara and the capital Kathmandu.

In Pokhara, I woke up early morning to watch the sunrise and go to Phewa Lake late in the afternoon to catch the sunset. I was able to do paragliding and looking forward to do skydiving soon.”

So now that 5’11” (although she would be registered as 5’10”) Jamaica is your Binibini 21, how does she take it all in?

“It’s a dream come true! But before joining, I still had hesitations. I wanted to know about my purpose and looked forward to doing it. That pushed me to join finally.”

Is there a place on your list for Jamaica Ambal?

Jamaica Elysse Ambal may look imposing at first. After all, she is certified as one of the four tallest Binibinis his year, along with Rachel Peters, Christa Borja and Nelda Ibe. And by no means will you see her as the lanky type. But you’ve got to give her the chance to prove that she deserves to be in the roster. There is a strong but warm quality that emanates from the way she relates with people. And soon enough, pageant fans and followers will appreciate her presence better. <img src="https://s0.wp.com/wp-content/mu-plugins/wpcom-smileys/twemoji/2/72x72/1f642.png" alt="
