After some of the vitriol I’ve heard this week, I half expected the above scene at the OKC airport.
As a long-time sports fan, I appreciate a good “sports hate” — and it is justifiable in this instance — but this seems to cut a little deeper than that. Kevin Durant has become the monster in some people’s eyes, like a son who has betrayed his family. As time goes by, I think we will discover what many other cities and teams already know: You appreciate what you have, and this game, of course, is a business.
I have a feeling we’ll gain that understanding sooner than most.
