Leeds United manager Garry Monk has stated that he wants the club’s supporters to enjoy the current strong form of the team after suffering through a number of underwhelming years.

The Elland Road outfit have a massive fan base and a history of success, but recent campaigns in the Football League have been soul-destroying for the Yorkshire outfit’s support.

However, with Monk at the helm and a young group of players fighting for each other, fortunes are starting to look up for Leeds.

A win over Preston North End on Boxing Day was the club’s third in succession and with the Whites in fifth place in the Championship a fight for promotion back to the Premier League is back on the cards.

Leeds will travel to face Aston Villa on Thursday night in what should be a high-quality affair and Monk has instructed the travelling support to enjoy the good times after a number of years of hurt.

“The fans and everyone should enjoy it, this club has suffered for quite a while now and all anybody wants to see is a team give 100% for the shirt and they have a group who are doing that,” he told the club’s official website.

“Whatever will happen, will happen, we are going to fight to put this club back where it belongs and it is everyone’s ambition to reach the Premier League.

“We are all ambitious, myself, my staff, the players and the fans, but with all the suffering the club has had over a number of years I think everyone should just enjoy it.”
