Arsenal and Liverpool are both watching in-form Sassuolo striker Gregoire Defrel according to The Daily Mail, with the 25-year-old catching the eye after a strong start to the new season.

The French attacker has been on the Serie A club’s books since 2015 and has netted four goals this term so far, firing his team into the top half of the table.

Defrel has spent the entirety of his career in the Italian game after coming through the youth ranks at Parma, with stints at Foggia and Cesena before moving to his current employers.

The report suggests that both Crystal Palace and Swansea City have been monitoring Defrel over time, but Premier League powerhouses Arsenal and Liverpool have been altered following his strong start to the new season.

The Gunners have been linked with countless strikers over recent transfer windows and bolstered Arsene Wenger’s options in the final third this summer by signing Lucas Perez from Deportivo La Coruna.

Liverpool usually play Roberto Firmino as the furthest man forward in their fluid 4-3-3 system, but Jurgen Klopp also has the likes of Daniel Sturridge, Divock Origi and Danny Ings to select from.
