With New York Fashion Week officially underway, we were lucky to even grab 10 minutes with powerhouse designer Rebecca Minkoff. With six retail stores in her growing empire and a cutting-edge e-commerce and digital business, Minkoff and her team are at the forefront of fashion for the millennial woman. Read on to learn more about Rebecca Minkoff.

Give us the Reader’s Digest version of what you do: Creative Director at my namesake brand Rebecca Minkoff

How did you get your career start? I started out sewing apparel, but was asked by actress Jenna Elfman to design a bag for a film she was going to do. That was the start of our Morning After bag. We were written up on DailyCandy.com and the orders just started pouring in. We were literally clearing out Home Depot stores for hardware components like metallic rings, clasps and hooks. We couldn’t afford an office so I would have buyers come to my apartment.

What does your typical day look like? No day is ever the same. Usually I start off having breakfast with my husband and kids. When time permits I like to squeeze in a workout with Kelvin at Body Space Fitness then it’s off to work. In the office I spend most of my time meeting with my design, sales and marketing teams or lunch meetings with buyers or editors. I try my best to get home in time to tuck my kids to bed at night.

What are your 3 NYC go-to spots? ABC Kitchen, the Juice Shop for a quick healthy meal, and Taim.

Where can we typically find you on your day off? Spending time with my family at Brooklyn Bridge Park, Brooklyn Flea or trying out new neighborhood eateries.

How do you plan out your Fashion Week wardrobe? Is it all last minute, or do you prepare days in advance? I pretty much wear a uniform – our black jeans, a black tee and black Becky blazer. I usually switch to something from the new collection on the day of the show.

What spring fashion trends are you most excited about this season? Fringe! I can’t wait until the weather warms up so that I can finally wear my lightweight leather fringe jacket.

What’s the most common Uber trip you take? I go to about 3 fashion events a week – taking Uber home at the end of the night has become a given.

What’s the best experience you’ve ever had with Uber? I love uberFAMILY!

What are your 3 go-to Fashion Week survival items? Blackberry, Stila Lipglaze, and Tresemme dry shampoo
