Now, the commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, Major General Lucky Irabor has announced Shekau’s death for the umpteenth time.
General Irabor made the claim about Shekau’s demise during a tour of Adamawa state on Thursday, September 1, insisting that the leader of the insurgents had been killed.
Though he could not provide details surrounding the alleged death of Shekau, he said: “I can confirm to you that the original Shekau was killed, the second Shekau was killed, and the man presenting himself as Shekau, I can also confirm to you that few days ago, he was wounded. We are yet to confirm whether he is dead or not.”
However, the renewed claims on Shekau’s demise have sparked a debate among Nigerians who asking why Shekau has died and resurrected several times according to the account given by the Nigerian army.

Others who contradicted the claims by the army demanded for a proof like the US provided did when it claimed to have killed Osama Bin Laden.

Ibrahim Sani said: “During GEJ, army said they killed this man up to 3 times,now In this government for the first time they are saying they killed this man, How are we sure this man won’t come back to life again. Please stop killing him just arrest him.”
Ifeanyi Onyejiuwa riddled the army for the claims, he said: “Hahahaha…. this is funny….. this same shekau has been dying every year oooo….he has died again this year…. Chai!! Nigeria!! A country replete in deceit, mischief making, dangerous propaganda and what have you. America killed Osama bin laden and we saw it on Television, pls can we see the body of Shekau??? Nigerians are not mugu any more, ok?”
Chukwuma Ukata said: “Abeg this Shekau story don begin resemble Tupac own ooo. Is he dead or alive? Nollywood, abeg when is the movie hitting the market? Should be a best seller.
Uchechukwu Samuel Nwosu liked the claaims by the army to a joke, he said: Shekau: The only man that has died and resurrected more than 5 times according to the Nigerian army, what a man. Next joke pls.”
Egaji Emmanuel said: “O I like Nigerian Army, they are the arm Force that kill one man every year.”
Chimezie Daniel Njoku said: “I thought the bible said that it is appointed unto man(Shekau) to die only ones after that the judgement follows. But Shekau has died more than ones na. Are they now trying to prove the bible wrong? This is about the 3rd or 4th time, na waaaoooo!”
Augustus Uchenna Ugwa: “E be like say this shekau na Tom and Jerry wey be say even if you kill them 100times them go rise 100times again. I wonder oo.
Giwa Damilola Congratulation said: “Shekau is finally dead..Hope another Shrkau will not upload another video from the land of the dead.”
Moshi Emmaster sent the Boko Haram leader a RIP message: “How many time is this shekau going to die? Anyway some people have three lives and have to die 3times before resting in peace so i believe this his last death because this is his third time of dying, he died in 2014 died in 2015 and now he has died for the last time in 2016. Rip shekau”
Onyi Mary demanded for the body, she said: “We want to see d body like Osama bin ladin. We want prove show us d body we aren’t mugu OK?”
Okeke Emmanuel queried: “How many times did this man had died…or is he Jesus Christ that resurrects?”
on his part, Okechukwu Egbe dismissed the claim as a lie , he said: “Now army self has learned how to lie,when you people arrest innocent people of n/delta you people give them name called them niger delta avengers.”
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has carried out air raids on Boko Haram commanders at a terrorist camp at Tumbun Rego in northern Borno.
The air force in a statement on Thursday, September 1, said the attack on the Boko Haram camp was carried out on August 29, 2016.
