New Chelsea head manager Antonio Conte has named his coaching setup at Stamford Bridge and while they are unexpectedly mostly Italian (including his younger brother), a new names were retained from the Jose Mourinho/Guus Hiddink era.

Conte is known for employing a large backroom staff during his time in charge of Juventus and the Italian national side, and the 46-year-old is not about to kick the habit after moving to the Premier League.

According to the Daily Mail UK, the Blues have granted Conte an 11-strong group of assistant coaches, fitness coaches, analysts, physios, strength and conditioning experts and nutritionists from a variety of backgrounds.

Below are the 11 assistants and their descriptions;

1. Angelo Alessio – assistant coach: The 51-year-old played for the likes of Juventus, Bari, Bologna and Modena over a 14-year playing career and became assistant coach at Napoli in 2002.

He has since managed at various levels of the Italian league structure, eventually teaming up with Conte at Siena before moving on to Juve and the Italy national side.

2. Steve Holland – assistant coach: Holland has been at Chelsea since 2011. He doubles up as Gareth Southgate’s assistant in the England Under 21 setup.

Holland was promoted to Andre Villas Boas’s staff before serving under Roberto Di Matteo, Rafa Benitez and Guus Hiddink, and was alone in standing up to Jose Mourinho as the Portuguese’s reign faltered at the start of last season.

3. Gianluca Conte – assistant coach: The younger brother of the new Chelsea head coach, Conte worked as an analyst under his sibling at Bari and Juventus before taking on a similar role with the Azzurri.

4. Paolo Bertelli – fitness coach: The 55-year-old is a vastly experienced physiotherapist spending 12 years at Fiorentina from 1987 before moving on to Venezia, Udinese, Roma and Juventus.

He was on the Italian national side’s medical staff for the 2010 World Cup.

5. Julio Tous – fitness coach and performance analyst: A Spaniard, Tous also held a similar role in the Italy setup before leaving with Conte for Chelsea.

Tous was with Barcelona’s team in that from 2004 to 2006.

6. Chris Jones – fitness coach: Jones has been a Chelsea staff since 2009, having originally been part of the club’s academy.

The former junior international assisted first-team fitness coach Glen Driscoll during Carlo Ancelotti’s reign and continued to hold the position under the tenure of Villa Boas.

When the Portuguese left Stamford Bridge in 2012, the former England Under 18 international took on full responsibilities for first-team fitness.

7. Gianluca Spinelli – goalkeeper coach: The 49-year-old leaves Genoa after a 12-year association to team up with Conte at Stamford Bridge.

Spinelli divided his time between his club job at Genoa and coaching the Italy national side’s goalkeepers but will now put his full focus into his role with Chelsea.

8. Henrique Hilario – assistant goalkeeper coach: Hilario retired from playing in 2014 after a 20-year career which began in the Porto youth ranks and immediately joined the goalkeeping staff.

9. Costantino Coratti – assistant fitness coach: A part of Conte’s staff during his two years in charge of the Italian national team.

10. Tiberio Ancora – consultant personal trainer/nutritionist: Dubbed ‘food educator’, the 50 year old played a major role for Italy in their surprise group victory and last-16 victory over Spain at Euro 2016, ensuring the Azzurri’s diet and hydration were properly looked after.

Has worked with clubs including Juventus, Atalanta, Verona, Bari, Lecce, Torino and Siena over the course of his career.

11. Carlo Cudicini – club ambassador and assistant to first team head coach: A vastly experienced goalkeeper and former Chelsea star before Cech came to the fore.

Cudicini’s playing career took in spells with Milan and Lazio before he arrived at Stamford Bridge in 1999. The 42-year-old made 216 appearances for the Blues.
