These are joyous times in the home of Nigeria’s former minister of national planning, Senator Sanusi Daggash.
Senator Daggash’s daughter, Habiba, has made herself and family proud as she graduates with a first class in engineering at the University of Oxford, London.

Habiba, a former research assistant at Microsoft Research Centre, has already commenced her PhD in Chemical Engineering at the Imperial College, London.
I’m pleased to say that I’ll be graduating from the world’s best university with a First Class in Engineering.

Habiba’s educational achievements won’t come as a surprise to those who are familiar with the antecedents of her father.

A fine professional and thoroughbred politician, Senator Daggash attained an M.Sc in Development Economics in 1986 from the University College, London.
Senator Sanusi Daggash is one of Nigeria’s finest politician
During his time as a member of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, the Senate and later the Federal Executive Council as a minister, Daggash distinguished himself as a politician who has the interest of Nigeria at heart.
During his time in the Senate, Senator Daggash served in different capacities.
He was Deputy Chairman, Senate Committee on Population and I.D. Card, member; Senate committees on banking, loans and debt, currency, FCT, loans and capital market.
Interestingly, the patriarch of the Daggash family, Alhaji Musa Daggash was educated at Oxford University between 1950-1951.
Habiba who has interests in environmental sustainability, renewable energy and football has many awards to her name since her days as a student of the Loyola Jesuit College, Abuja.

Habiba plays football at her spare time
Her awards include:
1. Deputy Head Girl, with special responsibility to devise and implement a new mentoring programme for the girls at the school
2. Finance Secretary of the sixth form’s young enterprise company
3. Gold Certificate obtained in the Senior Maths Challenge in 2011
4. Awarded Best Student in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry in 2011
5. Awarded Best student in Chemistry and Mathematics in 2012
6. Best A-level results obtained in the school in 2012
