Cholia paneer curry is punjabi style light curry cooked with chola or green chickpeas and paneer. This is specially made during winters when fresh green chickpeas are in the season.
Winter is great time to enjoy the fresh produce, from so many varieties of fresh leafy greens to sweetest winter peas and fresh chickpeas also known as hard chana or cholia. Cholia can be cooked in many different ways, you can make hare chana ki barfi, hare chana ki ghungani, chaat, cutlets and many different types of curries.
This one is simple yet tasty everyday green chana curry which is cooked in Punjabi homes. As usual every one has their own version of making this. Many people cook this is pressure cooker but I cooked in a pan, because fresh hard chana and paneer both are quick cooking ingredients so you can easily cook it in a pan.
You can serve the cholia paneer curry with paratha, chapati or rice. As I have mentioned in step by step method in the video, If you are serving it with rice, you might want to thin down the gravy and add little more water than I have added in the recipe video.
