The six-month-long pajama party is over for the kids of South Park. Even the monstrosity that is 2020 couldn’t stop the words “back to school” from being uttered this September (to the cautious but likely relief of parents everywhere). So, like IRL kids, Eric, Kenny, Kyle, and Stan are returning to the classroom, unprepared for a brave new PPE-heavy world. South Park’s all-new and aptly named “Pandemic Special” debuts this Wednesday, September 30 10E/7P (major entertainment world credit is owed to the fact that animators going back to work is so much safer than a bunch of flesh bag actors sidling up against one another and breathing moistly). The hour-long episode will see Randy launching a pandemic special as he “comes to terms with his role in the COVID-19 outbreak.” As for the kids, they’ll head back to an unfamiliar and kinda creepy new police state/school routine.
Since lockdown has been a long road for us all, it’d be cruel to make South Park fans wait until the end of the month to get their fix—which is why Much has stapled and glue-sticked together three special 2020-themed packages that viewers can binge right now. Pick your poison with Much’s Doctor, Doctor, Park Politics or Prescient Pandemic Panic episode collections featuring flashbacks to some of the series’ most 2020-topical moments (think: TFW something from eight years ago is so achingly relevant right now that you could just sob-laugh).
The ten-episode politics-themed collection features the good people of South Park freaking out over hot-button issues like North Korea, border walls, the economy, and Joe Biden’s double life as a jewel thief. Next, Much has another ten-episode batch lampooning all of those awkward moments that require intervention from the scientific and medical communities. Like, when you try to breed a pig with an elephant. Finally, like the cherry on top of an asymptomatic sundae, there’s a third, five-episode collection on the topic of pandemics themselves (Matt Stone and Trey Parker say ‘You’re welcome’).
