Many are  eagerly awaiting Facebook’s new Messenger Day feature’s arrival on Windows Phone, as it would provide a widely used Snapchat-like alternative on Windows Phone.

Messenger Day works exactly like how Snapchat Stories, Instagram Stories, and WhatsApp Status work: you can posts pictures and videos from your day on Messenger with emojis, text, drawing and more. These posts last only for 24 hours.

You can also add things like animated overlays over your pictures and videos, which is pretty neat. You can add things to your Day by opening up the camera in Messenger — from there, you can add a picture or video to your Day or share with your friends and group chats directly. Moreover, when you share something from the Messenger camera with your friends in a normal chat, Facebook will let you add that to your Day with a single tap of a button.

So far it is not clear when the feature will show up on Windows and Windows Phone, but now there is some evidence that some of the code is already there, as a Windows Phone user has been offered to upload their new pictures to the Messenger Day service.

Unfortunately for now pictures posted to Messenger Day by Windows Phone users seems to go nowhere at all – Windows Phone users have no way to view their Day, and even friends on other platforms can now view the images either.

The official Facebook Messenger apps are built using Facebook’s own cross-platform tools, which does give us hope that this feature may arrive sooner rather than later. On the other hand we are still waiting for phone calls….
