Ben Affleck's 'The Batman' Solo Movie: News, Rumors, Trailers, Theories & All You Need To Know
When #BenAffleck backed out of directing The Batman for Warner Bros. not long ago, Reeves was tipped as the most likely replacement. The Cloverfield and Let Me In director, who just finished his second Planet of the Apes sequel for Fox, had emerged as a top choice in large part because of his sure hand with Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and its upcoming sequel.

When he vacated the directors chair, Affleck said,
Performing this role demands focus, passion and the very best performance I can give, Affleck said in a statement. It has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require. Together with the studio, I have decided to find a partner in a director who will collaborate with me on this massive film.
This news will help counteract reports that The Batman is in trouble. Since the Warner Bros. movies based on #DC Comics have struggled to connect with critics and a broader audience in general, fans have understandably been skittish of every even unconfirmed report that brings ill tidings for the franchise.
But news of #MattReeves' involvement should ease fans' fears. He's shown an adeptness with handling big blockbusters. He should be able to maintain the level of action sequences we've come to expect from Affleck's Batman since Batman V Superman:

What's more, Reeves has also proven to be skilled at creating character-driven stories with more complex personalities, the lack of which has been a criticism lobbied at the #DCEU since its inception.
With the recent news that, contrary to conflicting reports, Warner Bros. and Affleck are reportedly very happy with the script, fans can rest easy that the studio moved so quickly to find a fantastic replacement to fill Affleck's considerable void.
