Hey there, Creators! We’re happy you’ve landed on this oh-so-important Code of Conduct page, because it means you genuinely care about your role in the awesome Creators community. By now, we hope you’ve gotten familiar with the Creators experience – publishing your articles, participating in Creators Chat, nerding out with your peers, etc. – and maybe you’ve even enjoyed some of the major perks, like getting your work promoted.

You’ve also probably noticed that we’ve got quite a big community here, and in order to keep this whole thing running smoothly, we need your help! Don’t worry, it doesn’t require you to move from whatever comfy spot you’re reading this from – or even do much more than be yourself. But it would make us happy to know that you understand what we expect from you on creators.co.

Positivity

In General

Our biggest goal at Creators is to be an inspiring place to talk about the things you love, and that's why we don't make any extra room for negative vibes. This applies to the topics you cover in your articles, the way you talk to other Creators, and even the way you talk about us as a brand. Constructive criticism and passion for a subject is welcome, but please avoid ruffling anyone's feathers and always keep the happiness of your fellow Creators in mind. We're all here to have fun and improve, after all.

In Articles

When it comes to your articles specifically, we simply won't promote negativity. If you want to write a review trashing the last movie you saw, a vendetta piece towards a celebrity you can't stand, or a list of TV shows you don't enjoy - they won't find their way to getting promoted on any of our websites. The reason behind this is simple: we encourage fans to talk about what they love. There is enough negativity on the internet, and Creators should be a place where you focus on what you genuinely enjoy with other like-minded fans who want to geek out with you. We do always encourage critical discussion and honesty, so you don't have to pretend to enjoy something - just try to remain constructive in your critiques!

Spamming

We’re all about keeping things genuine here at Creators. That means we don’t allow you to post content that is sales-y or generally inappropriate – whether that’s in the form of articles, comments, or messages. And you’re not a robot, so we trust in your best judgment not to post links to streaming websites or the like.

The no spam policy extends to Creators Chat, too. If you’ve done some great work, sharing once in the #article-share channel (and not #welcome, #support, etc.) should get you a nice response.

Please do us all a favor: Let our team know if you encounter spam anywhere on the site, and mark it as such in the comments when you see it.

Plagiarism

Okay, you can probably already guess what we’re going to say here. Please, don’t ever plagiarize! We work hard to keep the Creators community honest and fair. Every article you publish will have a plagiarism report attached to it, which means we'll be able to see any parts that have come from another source. Be sure to keep this in mind when you hit publish.

Just a reminder: Plagiarism does not only mean copy/pasting someone else’s words, but also taking others’ ideas and claiming them as your own. Always make sure your articles contain your own writing and ideas – if they don't, make sure to properly credit your information. Add hyperlinks to relevant sources either within your text or at the bottom of your article. And of course, attribute any quotes you use to people who said (or wrote) them.

Trolling

We do realize you’re a fan – that you can have strong opinions and can get excited. But please make sure that doesn’t escalate to putting others down or being a negative influence on our otherwise positive community. Any misconduct of this nature will result in us banning you from the site – and frankly, we wouldn’t wish that on our worst enemy.

Content Rights and Ownership

In order to get your content seen, our team reserves the right to reproduce or share your Creators articles on any of our affiliate websites (including Creators, Movie Pilot, Now Loading, and Champions) or social media channels. If we promote your articles, we also may make small edits – think titles, grammar, spelling, and images – to make them look the best they possibly can. You can opt out of this in your settings, but if you do, we won’t be able to promote your work. Sad face.

We won’t ever use your articles for purposes other than those described in our Terms of Service. If you become a Verified Creator, your articles may generate revenue via programmatic advertising, in which case you can expect to receive 50% of the earnings.

Feel free to share, comment on, and re-publish the content you create or discover on Creators or our affiliate websites for your own personal use. Do drop us a line if you’re planning on editing or deleting posts that you’ve published – especially if we’re promoting them. We'd hate to find a dead link in place of your once beautiful article.
