Is WWE SMACKDOWN LIVE Whoopin RAWS Candy Ass?

WWE Clash of Champions 2016 Results/Review

I am still not sure why WWE has changed the name from Night of Champions to Clash of Champions. I was expecting that this might be a new era for the event. A new better network special, and a breath of fresh air for the event. WWE has been on a roll with the WWE Network lately. Everything from the glorious NXT, to the cruiserweight classic, and I even enjoyed the return of the SmackDown PPV Backlash. On the other hand, it seems to me that the RAW shows, PPVs, and events have been suffering, and WWE SmackDown Live is better than WWEs A show, Monday Night Raw.

In my opinion, lately RAW has been suffering. Dont get me wrong, the division of performers are great. We get great matches, performers, women changing the world of wrestling, new wrestlers getting pushed, the return of cruiserweights, and more. However, compared to SmackDown Live, or even NXT for that matter. RAW does not really have any story, character development, or a series of stories that develop over time, it is predictable, and it really showed at WWE Raws Clash of Champions.

Kick off Show Nia Jax vs. Alicia Fox Alicia put up a good fight. She did a scissors kick, and got a two count on Jax. Jax quickly got back in control, and beat fox with the Samoan drop. I feel like this is the time to really give Nia Jax a character. Like a lot of Raw talent, Jax does not have a character! Who is Nia Jax? She is a big, mean, destructive woman and she is somehow related to Dwayne The Rock Johnson? Thats it. She isnt given any storylines, promos, or even memorable matches.

Winner Nia Jax

Match # 1 The New Day vs. Gallows and Anderson (The Club) Now here come a couple of talents that have been character development, and it shows, The (shake your hips) WWEWorldTagTeamChampions! The New Day! They are one of the top tag teams/faction in the company, and one of the few RAW talents that have been given time to grow. They are good in the ring, funny, and the audience/viewer can feel like they can connect to them and know them. The Club, Anderson and Gallows starting dominating the match right off the bat. Throwing big boots, fist, and just looking like the old club we knew. Big E got tag and suplexed Anderson numerous times and later got a near fall. Anderson was able to get back control. Anderson and Gallows nearly got the win until Kofi made the save. Kofi got a tag that was immediately stopped by Anderson. Anderson hit a devastating spinebuster! Kofi made a comeback and tagged in Big E. E hit the big ending but Gallows made the save. Xavier used the trombone while the referee wasn't looking. Kofi and Big E hit the Midnight Hour and Kofi got the pin for New Day to retain. I really think WWE RAW needs to make the Club look strong. No comedy acts, no old day segments, just a dominating tag team. Maybe when Balor comes back? The fans love The New Day, but ask yourself, do we really know Gallows and Anderson? This is what I mean, when I say Raw suffers from lack of character development. Good match, nice way to start things off.

Winner and Still your (shake your hips) WWEWorldTagTeamChampions The New Day

Match # 2 - TJ Perkins vs. Brian Kendrick for the Cruiserweight Title. Perkins came out to music that sounded like it was from a old school video game. It was a cool entrance, and something I have not seen before. Perkins wanted a handshake and Kendrick refused. SHOTS FIRED! Kendrick tied Perkins in the ring apron like Finlay to get the advantage. Kendrick worked over Perkins with various holds. Perkins did a hurricanrana to Kendrick that sent Kendrick over the top rope to the outside. Perkins kicked out the Kendricks move Sliced Bread. Kendrick shook Perkins' hand after the match but then head butted Perkins and left. If you did not see this match, do not expect what you saw at the cruiserweight classic. It was watered down big time. The match was good, and they are starting to develop a mean streak in Kendrick.

Winner and still your cruiserweight champion T.J. Perkins

AT LEAST RAW HAS THE SWISS SUPERMAN CESARO! RIGHT?

Match # 3 - Sheamus vs. Cesaro in the final match of the best of seven series. Sheamus went right after Cesaro at the start. At one point, Cesaro hit a 619 on Sheamus! Cesaro did the big swing and put the sharpshooter on but Sheamus got to the ropes. Cesaro did a suicide dive to Sheamus on the outside and landed right on his neck. It looked nasty, and I thought he was actually hurt. Cesaro clotheslines Sheamus over the barricade and into the crowd. Doctors came out and the referee stopped the match due to both guys being too hurt. Cesaro wanted to keep fighting but Sheamus couldn't even stand up on his own. The crowd woke up for this match. Now I was tired of these two fighting, and I thought the story was lame. Even though this match was great, I wanted the feud to end tonight, and it looks like it isnt. Cesaro needs a new gimmick and really needs a character. Coming out as if you are James Bond is not a character, it is an entrance. Sheamus, I do not know where to even start with him. He barely has a character, he is more of a haircut and septum nose piercing than he is a character!

Drink It In Maaaaaannnn

Match # 4 - Chris Jericho vs. Sami Zayn. During Jericho's intro, Cole said "breathe it in Corey" and Corey said "it's drink it in you stupid idiot!" Zayn had a few comebacks. Jericho got the walls of Jericho on and Zayn countered into a small package for a nearfall. Jericho kicked out of the Blue Thunder Bomb and then Jericho hit the codebreaker for the win. I honestly believe, Jericho is the most well developed character, heel, and talker on RAW. I think they can drag this story out and make it even better. Instead of we are fighting because your former best friend is now my best friend.

Winner Chris Jericho

Backstage, Kevin Owens told Mick Foley and Stephanie McMahon that he is the main event and will prove he should have been the #1 draft pick. Okay? Thats nice, moving on.

Match # 5 Charlotte vs. Sasha Banks vs. Bayley for the Women's Title. Cole mentioned that Charlotte is 11-0 in PPV Title matches. Sasha went after Charlotte right at the start. Charlotte fought Sasha in the ring while Bayley was on the outside. Bayley got back in into the mix and the fight spilled to the outside. Sasha ended up punching Dana. Sasha prevented Bayley from pinning Charlotte with the Bayley to Belly. The three exchanged chops. Bayley and Sasha then double teamed Charlotte but Charlotte fought them off. Charlotte hit a double moonsault onto both Bayley and Sasha. Dana saved Charlotte from the Bank's statement. After several more back and forth moments. Charlotte knocked Bayley and Sasha who fell off the apron. Charlotte hit the big boot to Bayley and got the victory to retain the title. This match, along with Cesaros match was the best match on the card. I think this was an okay ending. Id love to see Sasha go heel, and fight Bayley at wrestle mania. Maybe Dana Brooke and Charlotte can feud for a little bit.

Match # 6 Rusev vs. Roman Reigns for the U.S. Title. Rusev had control early and the crowd did the duel "let's go Roman/Roman sucks!" chants. Reigns got control for a while and brawled with Rusev on the outside. Back in the ring, Rusev regained control. Lana distracted Reigns and Rusev got a nearfall. Lana would have distracted me as well. Lana pulled out the referee and prevented Reigns from winning with a spear. The referee kicked out Lana. Reigns won the title with a 2nd spear.

Winner and New WWE United States Champion Everyones favorite wrestler( Kidding) Roman Reigns

FIGHT OWENS FIGHT!

Our Main Event - Kevin Owens vs. Seth Rollins for the Universal Title. Owens worked on Rollins' knee. Rollins was sent to the outside on his bad knee and Owens sarcastically asked the referee "is he OK?" before jumping onto Rollins. Owens hit a frog splash but Rollins kicked out.

Owens put Rollins on the announce table. Owens did a DX chop, and then attempted a standing senton on Rollins. However, Rollins rolled off the table, and Owens put himself through the announce table! Rollins ribs might be cracked open like a couple of eggs, and his eyes were glazed over like a couple of Krispy Kream donuts! (Just bare with me, Im hungry). Back in the ring, Rollins hit his own frog splash for a near fall. Chris Jericho came out and distracted Rollins. Rollins sent Owens into Jericho. Rollins hit the pedigree and Jericho put Owens foot on rope. The referee was knocked down and Rollins had the match won but there was no count. Rollins took out both Jericho and Owens. Stephanie brought out another referee and Owens hit the popup power bomb for the win.

Winner and still WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens

Overall, the show suffered from lack of character development and strong storytelling. The wrestling was great, but I would love to see great matches with great stories behind them. In my opinion, this show was not as good as Backlash, and it made SmackDown and NXT look like the stronger shows. The show was predictable, a little bland, no follow up with Triple H, and only made me care to see WWEs future PPV for SmackDown No Mercy. I believe WWE Clash of Champions 2016 earns
