BACKGROUND

More than half of all Americans work for or own a small business according to the Small Business Administration (SBA). As a result, small businesses are responsible for about two in every three new jobs created in the United States on an annual basis.

Every year since 1963, SBA has used “Small Business Week” as a national event meant to focus the nation’s attention on the importance of the small business community. This year, the National Small Business Week will be celebrated May 4-8.

The University of Missouri Extension SBTDC is funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration. All opinions, conclusions or recommendations expressed are those of the author(s) and do not necessarily reflect the view of the SBA. Programs are extended to the public on a non-discriminatory basis. Reasonable accommodations for person with disabilities will be made if requested at least two weeks in advance.
