Focusing on strengths? Check. Tweaking perspective? Check. We’ve completed the first two steps on your path to building a superstar personal brand. Those steps are fundamental, but they’re only the beginning. Where do we go from here?
We wait to be discovered, right?
Wrong.
Waiting around for people to find us is a one-way ticket to obscurity.
People won’t seek us out unless we give them a reason to.
Those who have successful personal brands find ways to become visible. They advocate for themselves in professional situations, they offer their expertise when it’s called for, and they strategically, artfully and intentionally place themselves in situations that show off their strengths to the world.
What they don’t do is wait around for Ed McMahon (old school 80s Star Search reference) to knock on their door with a camera and — poof! — make them a star.
If you want people to find you, you’re going to have to seek them out, take matters into your own hands, control your destiny and put yourself out there!!
Put simply: Don’t wait to be discovered; discover yourself.
What’s in Part 4? You’ll have to come back to find out, but I’ll give you a one word hint: Allen.
