KARACHI (Jan 14): Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that his government would address all the reservations raised by Ministry of Interior to including a certain number of Madars in the list of first schedule.
This he said while talking to media during his five- hour extensive visit of rain-affected areas of the city today. He was accompanied by provincial ministers, Jam Khan Shoro, Syed Nasir Shah, Mukesh Chawla and Imdad Pitafi.
Replying to a question he said that still the reply of Ministry of Interior regarding putting a certain number of madaris in first schedule has not reached at him. “ Let the reply reach at me we would address the reservation raised by the ministry,” he said and added that these recommendations are made on the basis of intelligence agencies reports.
Talking about the plight of the city after receiving continuous downpour, Syed Murad Ali Shah said that he would not term it satisfactory but “comparatively it is better because the cleaning of nala and removal of Encroachment has been made, “ he said and added he had visited Picher Nala near airport and Gujar Nala which were flowing smoothly.
He said it was a gigantic task to remove encroachment from Gujjar Nala and Local Government Minister Jam Khan Shoro has done a wonderful job for which he must be appreciated.
Replying to a question he said he was in touch with Mayor of Karachi. “ He is on streets and I am also visiting city to review disposal of rain water accumulated onto the streets and roads,” he said and added the Mayor has enough powers to serve the people of Karachi. It was quite surprising that every time he is being asked about the powers of Mayor. The assembly has given him powers and he should serve the people and he is doing on his best. “I am supporting him and today Invited him to join me in the trip but he was working in some other areas,” he said.
The chief minister said that there were some traffic issues because roads are being reconstructed. “Instead of appreciating some people are criticising the government for carrying out development in the city. This shows that are not opposing us but they are actually opposing the people of Karachi and Karachiites must recongnise them,” he said.
Earlier, the chief minister visited different areas of the city to inspect proper disposal of rain water. The areas he visited, include Shahrahe Faisal, Nipa Chowrangi, Liaqatabad, North Nazimabad, Nazimabad, Golimar, Sher Shah, Lyari and others.
In Lyari he visited General Hospital and inquired health of the patients. He asked them about the quality of services being provided them in the hospital. The patients response was positive. He directed the MS of the hospital to provide best health facilities and ensure that every doctor and para medical staff must be on the duty.
Syed Murad Ali Shah visited RO Plant of Lyari and checked quality of water. He directed the staff present there to ensure provision of quality water to as much localities of Lyari as possible. “I want you to operate the RO Plant at its maximum capacity,” he said.
Latter the chief minister who was joined by MPA Javed Nagori went to the office of PPP MNA Shahjehan Baloch where he was briefed about the water supply and drainage system of Lyari by MD Water Board Misbahuddin.
Mr Misbahuddin said that the drainage stsytem of Lyari was quite problematic because the area is below the sea level. The disposal of the drainage water is made through heavy suction machines and now Population has grown and the capacity of suction pumps is lower than the load. On this the chief minister directed MD water board to prepare a detailed plan within a month so that proper drainage system could be put in place. “ I want to construct roads and streets of Lyari but before taking construction work in hand its water supply and drainage system must be fixed,” he said and added that peace has been restored in Lyari and now it is turn of its development.
He visited different localities of Lyari and expressed his displeasure to see stagnant water at some places.
