Ajay Kumar Garg Engineering College (AKGEC), Ghaziabad is affiliated to Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University and is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education. The college was established in 1998 and offers B.Tech Courses in seven disciplines of Engineering. The college also offers postgraduate course in Computer Applications (MCA) and M.Tech in Automation and Robotics, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Power & Energy Systems, VLSI Design and Mechanical Engineering. The college is accredited by NAAC and certified for ISO 9001-2008 by BSI, UK.
The college has been consistently maintaining excellent academic results and placements. The college has the distinction of being the first and only college in UP to receive the Academic Excellence Award for the Best Engineering College in UPTU from H.E. the Governor of UP for two successive years. The college has been consistently maintaining excellent academic results and placements. In the year 2013-14, the college broke all records by securing 26 positions with 4 Gold, 3 Silver & 2 Bronze medals in university branch wise merit list. Subsequently, in year 2014-15 also, the college has achieved unbeatable distinction of 21 positions in the merit list with 3 Gold, 1 Silver & 2 Bronze medals.
Intellectual property, which is reflected by the caliber of faculty, is a strong point for AKGEC. Most Heads of Departments and senior faculty members are former professors or alumni of IITs. The Director, Dr R.K. Agarwal is a B.Tech from IIT, Kanpur, MS from C.I.T., Cranfield, U.K. and Ph.D from IISc, Bangalore. With such a strong intellectual capital, the college fosters and encourages a teaching methodology that has both a theoretical and practical approach. The Chairman, Shri Ashok Pal, an engineer and eminent educationist, says, “The college milieu encourages every student to develop respect for established norms and values and at the same time understand the importance of technical knowledge in human development”
Spread over 40 acre campus, AKGEC has excellent infrastructure with well planned complexes for each department having spacious laboratories, classrooms equipped with state of the art teaching aids, department libraries and faculty cabins. Departmental laboratories have the latest equipment and relevant licensed software. The college has state-of-the-art computing facilities with over 900 computers networked through broadband facilitating sharing of information over intra and Internet. The college has a fully automated central library with over 62,500 books, national/international journals, including e-journals, and an interactive satellite (EDUSAT) terminal with two way video conferencing facility.
Wi-Fi enabled campus includes faculty residences and spacious well furnished hostel accommodation for over 1200 students. Each hostel has a modern kitchen with spacious dining hall, dedicated library, TV room, canteen, internet, general store, well equipped gymnasium as well as in-door and out-door sports facilities.
The college places special emphasis on collaboration with industries at various levels to groom the students to meet the standards of industry. These include establishing collaborative facilities for student training in emerging multi disciplinary technologies and undertaking industry sponsored consultancy projects.
The college has the distinction of being the only Engineering College in the state of U.P. to have received approval from Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, for establishment of Centre of Relevance and Excellence (CORE) in the field of Automation & Robotics. The program envisages a unique partnership between AKGEC and seven international industries to promote research, consultancy, project development and training in the emerging technological field of Automation and Robotics.
The College has also set up India’s first Industrial Robotic Training Centre in Collaboration with KUKA Robotics of Germany. The centre is equipped with standard training cell comprising of KUKA KR-16 Industrial Robot with required auxiliary equipment and KUKA KR-5 Arc Welding Robot with MIG welding equipment and torch. The centre also has a Robotics Computer Simulation Lab with software like Sim Pro and Sim Layout used to design, develop and simulate robotic operations for different industrial applications. The centre provides internationally recognized certification by KUKA Roboter, Germany and AKGEC for its Basic, Advanced and Expert level training programmes in this emerging technological area.
The college has established the first “NI LabVIEW Academy” in the state of UP in collaboration with National Instruments. The Academy is equipped with Laboratory Virtual Instrumentation Engineering Workband (LabVIEW) with built in functionality for simulation, data acquisition, instrument control, measurement analysis, data presentation and state-of-art Education Laboratory Virtual Instrumentation Suite (ELVIS) for training on concepts of Sensorics, Mechatronics and controls. The Academy offers the courses which provide the opportunity to obtain three-part NI LabVIEW certification named as CLAD, CLD & CLA that imparts broad working knowledge of the LabVIEW environment.
The college has also set up the first Centre of Competence in Automation Technologies in North India in collaboration with BOSCH Rexroth AG, Germany. The center aims to train young engineering graduates of all disciplines to meet industry expectations and foster research in the multidisciplinary field of Automation Technologies. This centre has six laboratories equipped with state of art equipment to teach and trains students and professionals in Industrial Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Sensorics, Drives & Control, CNC, PLCs and Mechatronics at par with international standard.
The college has set up the PLM Centre of Excellence with SIEMENS Industry Software. The centre aims to develop engineering professionals equipped with next-generation technologies. This COE provides education to the next generation of designers/engineers on state of art software such as SOLIDEDGE, NX and CAD/CAM/CAE for digital product engineering, Teamcentre for digital life cycle management and Technomatix for digital manufacturing. This COE addresses diverse industry segments like automotive, industrial machinery, Industrial automation, aerospace and shipbuilding etc.
To promote Industry oriented teaching learning, AKGEC has setup Center for Integrated Automation in association with Automation Industry Association (AIA). This initiative of AIA is intended to share global quality learning processes from its vast pool of member companies with chosen Engineering Colleges of our country. Industry Partners namely Siemens, Pepperel + Fuchs, Festo and B&R, have taken the lead among all industry members of AIA to support the initiative. Main objective of this Centre is to encourage engineering students to take up this multidisciplinary field as a choice of their career and have hands-on experience with latest state or art integrated automation technologies as per industry expectation.
The college has also set up the UP’s first Industrial Pneumatic Knowledge Centre in collaboration with Janatics, Coimbatore. The initiative of setting up IPKC reflects Janatics’ endeavour to contribute towards producing skilled workforce in Pneumatics which will help manufacturing sector to adopt to changes related to automation in substantive way. The IPKC also functions as National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) Training-cum-Incubation Centre (TIC).
The efforts of the college to bridge the gap between academic curriculum and industry requirements through these centres of Excellence & Competence have been recognized and the college is the recipient of the CMAI Best Industry Interface award from the Hon’ble Minister of Science & Technology, UP Govt.
The college has established a Microsoft IT Academy preparing students for global Microsoft certification. The college also has a Network Academy which offers CISCO Certified network Associate (CCNA), CISCO certified Network Professional (CCNP) and CISCO certified Inter Networking Expert (CCIE) level Training Programs. In addition, the college has also set up School of Software Technology which runs courses such as Java Technology, Linux etc.
Big Data Centre of Excellence: This centre established at college provides opportunities to B.Tech / M.Tech / Research scholars for their project works in this most upcoming technology. The COE is equipped with fully functional cluster of 12 Data Nodes and 1 Name Node. The enthusiastic team of the COE conducts workshops / courses in this technology and takes up related projects/workshops/courses on Big Data Technology.This make them abreast with emerging technology and become industry-ready when they graduate.
Software Development Centre: The college boasts of a Software Development Centre (SDC) that is equipped with the state of the art infrastructure & hardware/software tools. This provides a highly conducive & stimulating environment for the young brains to explore & come out with innovative solutions using emerging technologies. The Centre conducts training programme on the latest software technologies which is instrumental in keeping our students technologically ahead of others. The team members of SDC have delivered many automated systems to Industrial clients as well as to AKGEC which have automated their work processes.
As a result of these initiatives, the college has been having excellent campus placements. During the current academic year, over 600 students have been placed in PSUs and reputed organizations like Infosys, HCL Technologies, L&T, L&T Infotech, Hyundai, Wipro Technologies, Jakson Engineers Ltd., NTPC, IBM, Indian Air Force and the Indian Army.
The main distinguishing features of the college have been uniform transparent policies and systems as well as uncompromising honesty in every facet of its activities. The college believes in setting audacious goals and infusing fresh ideas to achieve them.

Admission Procedure B.Tech, MCA and MBA (AKGIM) Programmes
UPSEE Counselling
Admissions to B.Tech. and MCA I year as well as B-Tech II year(Lateral Entry) are made through Combined State Entrance Exam (UPSEE) conducted by the UP State Technical University, AKTU, Lucknow.
The minimum qualification for B-Tech is intermediate (10+2) or equivalent with physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
The minimum qualification for MCA is graduation (10+2+3) in any discipline from any recognized institution with Mathematics as one subject at Intermediate level or at Bachelor degree level.
The minimum qualification for B-Tech II year(Lateral Entry) is three-year engineering diploma in any branch of engineering (except Agriculture Engg., Pharmacy and Architecture) with minimum 60% marks.

Students who fulfill above mentioned minimum eligibility criteria may collect the Application forms free of cost from the college main gate. Duly completed forms alongwith enclosure as mentioned in the form be dropped in the drop Box kept at the main gate. Forms are also available to be downloaded from college website www.akgec.org. The selection for the few available seats will be based on merit in PCM/UPSEE/JEE and performance in the college test/interview.
