About College:
Adesh University, Bathinda, the flagship academic and research endeavor of Adesh Foundation, a pioneer in health care, medical and technical education came into existence in the State of Punjab in July 2012 by Act no. 6 of 2012 of Government of Punjab, notified under Punjab Government Gazette (Extraordinary) dated July 10, 2012 under Punjab Private Universities policy 2010. The parent body, the Adesh Foundation was established in 1995 vide Registration No. 618 of 1995-1996 (Registered under Societies’ Registration Act XXI, 1860) in Sri Muktsar Sahib, an underdeveloped area of Southern Punjab, with aim and objectives of serving humanity in the sphere of health care as well as medical, paramedical and technical education.
Adesh Foundation started its journey in the field of professional education and health care with the establishment of Adesh Institute of Engineering and Technology, Faridkot in the year 1996, to deliver various undergraduate and postgraduate level programmes in the field of technical education. The Foundation established its second degree level institution in the sacred memory of martyrs of Sri Muktsar Sahib under the name Bhai Maha Singh College of Engineering, Muktsar in the year 2002.
The foundation established a Medical College at Bathinda under the name and style as Adesh Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, Bathinda. This premier medical institution of Northern India with an annual intake capacity of 150 students in MBBS course is duly recognized by Medical council of India/Govt ofIndia. The foundation further established College of Nursing, AIMSR, Bathinda and College of Physiotherapy, AIMSR, Bathinda in the year 2005. College ofPharmacy, AIMSR, Bathinda was established in the year 2006, while Adesh Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences, Bathinda was established in the year 2007 to impart training in the field of Pharmacy. All these colleges are recognized/approved by respective regulatory councils / authorities. Adesh Institute of Dental Sciences & Research, Bathinda was established in year 2008 to impart training in dental sciences, with the annual intake of 100 seats in BDS. He is a versatile genius, a man to be reckoned with in the field of medical & technical education in Punjab. As an educationist he has gifted several medical, technical & engineering institutions under the banner of Adesh Foundation to the people of Malwa. His vision & mission, his acumen & experience, his efforts & accomplishments have made the Adesh Foundation an icon of excellence in education. Dr. Gill is a philanthropist by nature and a doctor by profession. He obtained his MBBS & MD degree from Government Medical College, Patiala. He has established himself as a dynamic entrepreneur and committed planner who has achieved International fame for imparting quality education focused towards development of the hitherto-fore underdeveloped region of Punjab.
Dr (Lt Col) G P I Singh, M. D., DIH, a man with great research acumen and vision for innovation, is the founder Vice Chancellor of Adesh University. Dr Singh has 41 years of teaching and administrative experience. A graduate and postgraduate from Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, he has served the Army Medical Corps as faculty in the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune and various other institutions. He was also the Director Principal of the Adesh Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (AIMSR), Bathinda, for over three years and Professor and Head (Community Medicine) at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), Ludhiana, for about 10 years. During his stint as Director Principal of AIMSR, the College witnessed prolific growth; the MBBS degree of College was recognized by Medical Council of India, postgraduate courses were started because of his untiring efforts.
Col Jagdev Singh (Retd) the Registrar of Adesh University had been Registrar at Thapar University, Patiala, Apeejay Stya University, Gurgaon and Central University, Bathinda for almost a decade before taking up the present appointment in November 2014.
Col Singh served with the Indian Army for more than three decades and has a vast exposure in the technical and administrative fields while serving all over the country. Being a member of one of the most advanced technical arm of the Indian Army, he was responsible to have some of the most challenging projects commissioned successfully for the Army establishments and Defence Research and Development Organisation.
As a Registrar of one of the leading technical universities, was involved in its meteoric growth through most optimal utilization of resources and in the smooth progress of one of the newly established Central Universities in its nascent stages as its first Registrar.

About AIMSR
Adesh Institute of Medical Sciences & Research is a medical college with annual intake of 150 students. The College is recognized by the Medical Council of India, and Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India vide gazette notification no. U.12012/216/2005-ME(P-II) dated 19th May 2011.
The admission procedure is as laid down by the Adesh University. All the teaching departments of basic sciences are equipped with state of the art modern equipments, instruments and teaching aids. The institute has lecture halls with ample seating capacity and equipped with multimedia and other audiovisual facilities along with sound amplifying systems with special emphasis laid on participatory teaching.
Post Graduate (MD/MS) courses in the subjects of Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Pathology, Microbiology and Community Medicine have been started from the session 2011-2012. Permission to start M.S. (General Surgery) from session 2013-14 has been granted by MCI.
The medical college has got a spacious library present on the second & third floors. It has got air cooled well ventilated and illuminated capacious halls for reading purposes with more than 13000 books pertaining to various undergraduate and postgraduate subjects and 200 national and international journals. The library is equipped with computers connected to the central internet hub of the college having broad band internet lease line for reference to the latest publications of the research material and other information through medlar and worldwide web. Unlimited access to internet is available for all faculty and students. Photo copier & printer services are available at a nominal cost to the students. The library also has got a huge reading room for the students to bring their own study material to pursue in a peaceful and temperature controlled environment.
There is continuous uninterrupted power supply to the hospital, college, hostels and residential complexes. Students can have access to air-conditioned and air-cooled rooms in the hostels. RO systems are installed at all the strategic areas in hospital, college and hostels for continuous supply of clean water. Wholesome vegetarian and non-vegetarian food is available in the hostels.
Computers have been provided to all the departments of the college and teaching hospital, thus helping the staff members to update their knowledge and skills from time to time. In addition a spacious examination hall for students to appear in their departmental or university examination has been provided.
The course of studies of M.B.B.S. leading to the award of the degree of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) shall last a minimum of five and a half academic years (including one year of compulsory rotatory internship) and is subject to the rules and regulations of the Adesh University and Medical Council of India (MCI).
Teaching Hospital
The teaching hospital of AIMSR is a majestic 7 storey building plus a basement providing a land mark not to be missed on the Bathinda Barnala highway. It has got a capacity of 750 beds and is a multi-specialty hospital in a true sense. It is the beginning of a vision leading ultimately to a mini postgraduate institute in this region of Punjab.
The hospital has an entrance lobby which provides a splendid view and a visual comfort to the patients, having enough space to seat more than 1250 patients and their attendants waiting for their registration, buying medicines at the pharmacy on one side or simply waiting for the relatives.
The emergency is conveniently located close to the main entrance from the highway for easy and quick access to the emergency. An emergency labour room along with the main gynecological OPD is again conveniently located for easy access to the female patients.
The out patient departments are present on three floors divided grossly into surgical, medical and allied for all the subjects of M.B.B.S. courses plus super specialties of neurosurgery, neuromedicine, pediatric surgery, nephrology, urology, cardiology, gastroenterology etc. The OPDs are best equipped for examining the outdoor patients.
The ICU complex consists of medical Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Intensive Cardiac Care Unit (ICCU), Respiratory Intensive Care Unit (RICU), Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU), Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and a Renal dialysis unit.
The investigative laboratories are equipped with latest state of the art technologies, instruments and equipment. The Department of Biochemistry is equipped with fully automatic analyzer (Beckman Coulter), Arterial Blood Gas (ABG) analyzer, Biolyte analyzer for electrolytes, semi automatic analyzers, Elisa Reader and flame photometers etc. The Department of Microbiology is fully equipped with Laminar flow and modem kits for undertaking diagnostic tests in bacteriology, serology & immunology, parasitology, mycology, virology, and mycobacteriology including Dark ground microscopy. The Department of Pathology is fully equipped for histopathology, cytopathology, clinical hematology and clinical pathology with automatic tissue processors, automatic hematology cell counter, cryostat and coagulometers.
In the department of Radio-diagnosis, in addition to 6 mobile X-ray units there are 300 m.A. X-ray, 500 m.A. X-ray, 800 m.A. 600 m.A. X-ray, 500 m.A. X-ray I.I.TV, Digital X-ray (C R System) for teleradiology, Single Slice CT Scan, 16 Slice CT Scsn, 1.5T MRI, 800 T Mammography, Sonography and Colour Doppler. The Department of Cardiology is equipped with multichannel ECG machines, Echocardiography and TMT facilities. Department of Gastroenterology is equipped with upper and lower GI endoscopes. Investigative procedures such as EEG, EMG, Nerve Conduction Studies, VEP and BAER are conducted by the Department of Neurology. Biofeedback Psychological instruments and ECT machine are available with the Psychiatry Department. The Department of Urology is equipped with facilities for lithotripsy, C-Arm fluoroscopy, and uroflowmetry.
There are ten operation theatres in the hospital with the latest equipment for the Anesthesia department. There are two Image intensifiers (C-Arm) installed in the operation theatres.
The hospital has fully equipped, licensed state of the art Blood Bank which works round the clock, Facilities for all modalities of transfusion and component therapy are available.
Urban Health Center, Bhucho Mandi (Bhucho), Bathinda
The Institution has established an Urban Health Centre at Bucho Mandi at a distance of 3 kms from the college. A population of 32,000 is covered under study area. The Community Medicine department organizes teaching programmes and field visits. Medical Officer is posted there. Students are posted in batches. Separate male and female wards have been established for patient care. Delivery services are available. Immunization services, antenatal care & MCH services are provided. Facilities for diagnostic investigations and minor Surgery are also available. Family welfare activities and activities under the national programmes are also carried out.
Rural Health Training Center, Bhallaiana (Muktsar)
R.H.T.C., Bhallaiana is under the administrative control of the Principal of the College and HOD, Department of Community Medicine. Services of Medicine, Pediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology are available for the patients. Community Medicine department organizes teaching programmes and field visits. The senior faculty from the college is posted in rotation for patient care & diagnosis. Lady Medical Officer is available. Interns are posted in batches. Separate male & female wards have been established for patient care. Antenatal and immunization services are provided at the center and in the field. The labour room is well equipped. Investigation facilities for basic investigations, X-ray, ECG, Minor O.T., Injection room, etc. are available. All the vaccines listed under UIP are available. Family welfare activities and activities under the national programmes are also carried out.
