Do any of you need more proof that we’re dedicated to supporting Mac users? Well, look no further than our constantly growing Mac Software Development Team, and the newest member, Sebastien Piche-Aubin!

Now, in the interest of full transparency: Sebastien is not truly new to the Devolutions family, because he joined us a few months ago as part of our VERY successful intern program. As we had hoped and expected, Sebastien did such an amazing job that we were delighted to offer him a full-fledged role. And we were even happier when he accepted!

Aside from the nice boost in salary and benefits, officially joining our team involves another life-changing honor. No, I’m not talking about full pinball and foosball privileges. Yes, I am talking about the glorious “tell us about yourself” interview. And so, without further delay, here’s my chat with Sebastien:

Can you tell me a bit about your professional background?

Before working at Devolutions as an intern, I worked in a retail environment selling computers and other related products and services. I learned a lot about working with different people, and the importance of focusing on customer needs. I also taught myself how to develop and program websites, and have created several of them for clients and friends over the years.

What would you say are your biggest professional achievements so far?

I would say that my biggest professional achievements so far are the websites that I’ve created, and also a small software program that I created. It pretty quickly converts AVI files to MP4 files for Apple TV. I created it because everything I came across on the web took a long time to convert. I still use the software, and so do my friends and family members. So I guess I’m proud of that!

What was it about Devolutions that made you want to work here?

Back when I was searching for an internship opportunity, a friend of mine named Edwin who was already working here kept telling me how great it was. And so I did some research and was very impressed by what I learned about the company. That’s when I first wanted to work here, and I guess the rest is history!

What would you say are your top three strengths at work?

I would say that I’m always open to learning and increasing my knowledge. I’m also a good team player and go out of my way to help the people I work with. And I’m very hard working, but at the same time I’m pretty sociable and really like working in an open space environment.

What tasks do you carry out in your job, and what are some of the tools that you use?

As a software developer on our Mac team, I spend most of my time with RDM for Mac adding new features or taking care of bugs. Mainly, I use Xamarin studio 6 for Mac and Visual studio 2015 for Windows on my virtual machine.

What are your impressions of working here?

I love it! The environment is very nice and the people are very kind and willing to help if I have a problem or question. I like the culture here too, and the vision of the future.  And I really like how I can work hard all morning, and then play volleyball at lunch!

What goals would you like to achieve at Devolutions?

My goal is to help my team, and our company overall, continue building great products that support our customers. I also want to learn something new each day that helps me become a better developer and team member.

On a personal note, what are some of your hobbies and interests?

I love watching and playing hockey and tennis. I also like to write code, play some video games, and watch my favorite TV series.

Please share a few words with our community of IT pros:

Everyone here works very hard, every day, to make RDM and our other products even better. We never stop improving, and I believe that’s what makes a company like Devolutions great.
