LNP Senator-elect, and hinterland resident James McGrath, has announced he will be setting up his base in Nambour giving the people of Sunshine Coast and Wide Bay another direct voice in federal parliament.

Senator-elect McGrath, says a check of all available records revealed it‟s the first time a Queenslander Senator has established an office in the region.

“As a fourth generation Sunshine Coast local, I‟m proud to be the first Queensland Senator to establish an office in this region.

“My family first moved here in 1919 as cane farmers at Yandina. Mum and Nana used to get the boat to primary school along the Maroochy River and as a „Bli Bli State School old boy‟ I am really chuffed to be based here.

“While my job as a Senator will involve representing all of Queensland, I will be in a position to give particular focus to the important issues in the Sunshine Coast and Greater Wide Bay regions,” Senator-elect McGrath said.

“Tourism, small business and agriculture are among my priorities.”

The move confirms the LNP‟s position as the party which represents all Queenslanders with Senators based across the state.
