這首歌以密度極高的死海作為比喻，人在死海中不會下沉。對她來說，他就好像她生命中的死海，讓他在這個紛亂而冷酷的世界上，不受各種打擊的影響，不會墜落谷底，永遠保持著浮上岸的勇氣與毅力。
第一段是男主角看著四處為家的波多黎各人，狂歡跳舞，他們的人生沒有包袱，只有流浪。接著，他想到自己也曾有個美國夢，夢想著到達紐約去追逐夢想、過著穩定的生活。然而，New York it lied to me，他發現紐約並非幻想中那般美妙，他開始質疑自己以前所相信的一切，到底何為真，何為假。不過此刻充滿懷疑的他，卻對自己的感情毫不懷疑，堅信著兩人是彼此的死海，不會讓對方沉入海底。
到了Verse 2，開始講述女主角的身世，她原是個有著包袱的人，為了身邊的人而活，但在父親去世後，開始領悟到這不是她所嚮往的生活，她知道是時候追求自己想要的，而他也認同，因為兩人都知道，有著彼此作為自己的死海，即使流浪、即使飄泊，也永遠不會下沉。
