Planning a trip in the near future, but needing to get some serious library work done while away?  Another new improvement with the Library’s BorrowDirect service may be your ticket to nailing that.

Cornell University Library is pleased to announce that Cornell students, faculty and staff now have on-site borrowing privileges at eleven universities-- Brown University, University of Chicago, Columbia University, Dartmouth College, Duke University, Harvard University, Johns Hopkins University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of Pennsylvania, Princeton University, and Yale University.

So, Cornellians, whether on a short trip or extended leave, if you find yourself in need of resources from a world class academic library in, say, Chicago,  or Boston,  or Philadelphia—or within visiting distance of any one of the eleven universities in this new BorrowDirect service partnership—you are now all set.  Just be sure to bring along your Cornell ID card and present it at the service desk of the library you're visiting. You’ll be asked to log into your Cornell University Library account to verify your current status, and then you’ll get a library card with borrowing privileges for that library.

One word of advice:  As items available to you and loan policies will vary by institution, please consider taking the time to check your destination library’s lending policies ahead of time.  Most conveniently, however, one loan policy is uniform across the board--any items you do borrow on your trip may be returned at either the lending library or back here at Cornell.  Just remember to leave room in your luggage for those extra books on the home trip….and then maybe also some room in your travel calendar for some serious vacation outside the library!
