anime
by @Nanashi

Flashy flash.
- Gantz will get a 'full 3DCG' movie in 2016. For a controversial title that already squeezed out two series of anime, that's pretty solid. Check it out if you haven't yet.
- Durarara!!x2 Ketsu will air starting January 9th. Get on yo' bikes and reap the wind, cause Celty is coming back. Again.
- Genocidal Organ will be produced by specially created Geno Studio. In the lead will stand Koji Yamamoto, and the studio will be functioning as a side company of Twin Engine. They hope to finish the movie by the end of 2016.

Weekly recap
Did you ever wonder how would it be if an anime was set it one place instead of constantly moving the action? That's what happened in Rokka no Yuusha. Some of you might think that it's not really wise... and yet, this title proves that to make a good anime you don't need fancy backgrounds or constant action. All it really took was a simple plot revolving around one riddle, led wisely enough to keep you entertained. If it's about me, I had plenty of fun watching this anime. Riddle here, interesting characters there and plot twists all over make this simple 'closed door riddle' anime an immensive adventure that's to be remembered. And, judging by the ending, there might even be a second season! But they still settled the riddle, so lay back, make some popcorn and enjoy the show!

Hello again, Lewders! If you don't know, I'm super into the indie game scene. I follow the devs closely, and donate shitloads of money to Patreon and Kickstarter campaigns. Well a game just popped up on my radar that I haven't heard about before called, Highschool Romance.  It's a visual novel where you play as a boy who gets sent to an all girl school. Judging from the screenshots on Steam, it's looking to be an ecchi girl on girle-boy romance novel. No surprises really. Since the story involves a boy who dresses in girl's clothing, I can only assume that he's a master programmer to boot.  With the promise of multiple ending, it's sure to be an exciting, lewd adventure that can be enjoyed by all when it releases on November 18th.

Now for the shitter side of the news...  Fallout 4 is a game. If you haven't heard of it, you should know that it, and its predecessors are known for the extensive modding communities that surround them. Well someone made a mod that copies the Red Sox uniform. It's not really a big deal. It's a transformative media, it's not being sold or profited from, and it falls under Fair Use. So what's the problem? The MLB doesn't understand laws, technology, or the Internet.  They only understand money. When something looks like it could potentially make them money, or if they feel like the could lose profit over it, they have Mr. Smithers unleash the hounds. MLB wants the mod removed form existence and good luck to them for that. While, currently the mod isn't accessible on the Nexus, but it's the Internet. If you want it, don't fret. It's out there.

Issue #15: Snareskin - Snares On A Plane EP

Snareskin, the sideproject of well-known Netherlandish producer Froxic, just released the first album for his new alias titled "Snares On A Plane". This album contains songs that you'd expect from any froxic album, with his same signature sounds, along with some newer tracks which are more expirimental, such as the beautiful and ambient "Where We're Going", "Clouds", alongside the more energetic and catchy songs that we're used to like "Ambitious To A Fault" or "Stratosphere". Out of all, this makes an amazing album for the new alias of this seasoned producer. This rebirth of himself as a producer is definitely going to bring lots of interesting results, which will be interesting to see.

HP launches the Z Turbo Quad Pro

hexus.net Wrote:HP has unveiled the Z Turbo Drive Quad Pro storage solution for workstations. This PCIe Gen3 x16 card can be fitted with up to four HP Z Turbo Drive G2 modules providing up to 2TB of super-fast storage.

"Head spinning speed" is on tap to those using the Z Turbo Quad Pro, says HP. The firm claims that its PCIe Gen3 solution offers data speeds up to 16x faster than a standard SATA SSD ?that's up to 9.0GB/s sequential read speeds. Furthermore an "industry leading NVMe controller technology specifically architected for low latency for SSD," provides 3x better random read performance compared to a traditional SATA SSD product.

Source

HP announced a PCI based storage solution that can hold up to 4 M.2 SSDs. The module can also handle up to 2 terabytes of storage. HOLY CRAP. This means it's basically a build-able Intel 750 PCI SSD. The largest storage the Intel 750 comes in is the 1.2 terabyte variant, this HP one can handle 2 terabytes. The Z Turbo Quad Pro can read at 9 gigabytes per second. Prices for the HP Z Turbo Drive Quad Pro starts at $299 for a 256GB version, and extra 256GB modules can be purchased for $199 each. WHAT AN INSANE DEAL.

ASUS confirms 2016 launch of an augmented reality headset

hexus.net Wrote:ASUS is preparing an augmented reality (AR) product for launch sometime next year. CEO Jerry Shen revealed the plans yesterday, in an investor webcast, but declined to discuss further details, reports CNet.

Previously ASUS was noted to be in talks with Microsoft about building a cheaper version of the HoloLens AR headset. Microsoft's own augmented reality glasses, sold as a developer edition, will set early adopters back $3000. Hopefully a firm like ASUS could mass produce the same experience offered by HoloLens at a much reduced price.

During Wednesday's webcast ASUS Chairman Jerry Shen said "It should be next year when we come out with a product, we think AR (augmented reality) will be very important for people's lives."

Asus is coming into the game of virtual reality headsets as well with their announcement of their partnership with Microsoft. It seems like every damn tech company is making a VR headset, even HTC is in the game with their Vive headset. Anyways, Asus hopes to build a less expensive version of the Microsoft Hololense since the developer's version was priced at three thousand dollars. I hope with all these companies making VR headsets that the prices will be competitive with each other.

All Nintendo Mobile Games Will Be Free To Play

nextpowerup.com Wrote:Nintendo's first mobile game, Miitomo, has been unveiled and we know it is free to play. While it has been reported other games could cost money, a report from the Wall Street Journal claims all mobile games currently in development at Nintendo will be free to play. This was subsequently confirmed by Isao Moriyasu, CEO of DeNA, the studio working with Nintendo for these games. Moriyasu says the five games arriving on mobile between now and 2017 will be free to download and that'll come with additional paid content that's optional.

When Miitomo, which is more of an app than a game, was unveiled last month, Nintendo president suggested future apps/games would cost money.

Nintendo is announcing that their mobile platform games will be free. This can mean 1 of 2 things, either these games will be FUCKING PAY TO WIN or they will skill based and Nintendo is just being a kick ass company that treats their fans. I hope to god Nintendo goes with the second option, if Nintendo makes pay to win games that will be the end of the company. Let's hope Tatsumi Kimishima makes the right choice.

AMD's Radeon Fury graphics cards claw back marketshare

pcworld.com Wrote:Nvidia is doing its best to dominate the graphics card market, but at least some people couldn’t resist the sweet melody of AMD’s Fury-tinged siren song between July and September. The third quarter of 2015 was the first full quarter when AMD’s new flagship graphics cards, the Radeon R9 Fury X and R9 Fury, were available for sale.

Both cards are packed with AMD’s new Fiji GPUs and high bandwidth memory (HBM), which offers blisteringly fast transfer speeds that leave standard GDDR5-based memory in the dust.

All the excitement over AMD’s most important graphics card releases in nearly a year amounted to a 0.8 percent increase in add-in board market share, according to new estimates from the GPU watchers at Jon Peddie Research. As you’d expect in a market with only two companies that really matter, all of AMD’s gain came at Nvidia’s expense.

Source

AMD was slowly losing their grip on the gpu and cpu market since 2010 (imo). But AMD is slowly building up their stocks again with their release of the Fury X and the Fury Nano graphics cards. Many said that AMD would be bought out by competing companies, but I think that won't happen. Their APUs are selling quite well thanks to the popularity of AMD APUs and its dominance as the gaming console GPU of choice. AMD’s overall market share by the end of the third quarter of 2015 came to 11.5 percent, while Nvidia’s stood at 15.7 percent. So, well done AMD!

Subaru files a patent for the BRZ STi.

News has hit our shores that Fuji Heavy Industries (Subaru's parent company) filed a patent for a non-standard looking BRZ concept that looks almost identical to the BRZ STI concept that was shown at the New York Autoshow just this year, pictured above.
This is big news for the ZN6 lineup, which are well known for astonishing handling, but no 'oomph' when you press the go pedal. Rumors say the new model will have - like the BRZ STI concept - 30+ HP over the regular model, WRX STi suspension, brembo brakes, a uniquely new interior and carbon fibre infused aero. Don't get your hopes up though, as no further evidence that they will actually put the model into production, this can very well just be the company protecting their proof-of-concept design.

SEMA 2016 Highlights!

Whether it be a single turbo Supra, or a 1000HP Mini Cooper, SEMA isn't short of variety as usual. Actually, the only thing usual about the Specialty Equipment Market Association show is that its UNusual. With the car count exceeding 1000 this year, bear with me as I point out the ones that specifically tickled my fancy.

Sung Kang's RB26 NA 280Z!

No, not a straight GTR swap, but a Naturally Aspirated RB26DETT was stuffed into this beautiful Fairlady chassis. Built in part by GREDDY, this car was salvaged from the scrap heap and rebuilt from the ground up using nothing but the best parts available for this godmachine. With custom suspension, brakes, a custom Rocket Bunny derived body kit and finished with a polished set of Volk TE37s, the FuguZ is nothing but breathtakingly good looking. But the real beauty of it comes out when you put your foot on the accelerator. 400 of NA japanese horsepower wails out through the straight piped exhaust at a tone that would make a grown man weep. This is truely the best 280z ive seen in a long while, and probably will be for a decade.
Watch the building of this car in the Z Dream webseries!

Dodge's AWD Challenger!

"The Challenger GT AWD Concept might not seem as insane as some other SEMA show cars, but it is -- thanks to the radical all-wheel-drive surgery that this Challenger underwent. Powered by the 5.7-liter Hemi V8, the output of this Challenger is just a bit above stock -- the Scat Pack 3 performance package tacks on an additional 75 hp and 44 lb-ft of torque. The Scat Pack consists of CNC-ported heads, hi-flow exhaust manifolds and hi-flow catalytic converters, and maintains a factory warranty. A subtle suspension drop helps the AWD Challenger hug the ground, and Mopar Performance strut tower braces stiffen the structure.
