Krishna Pushkaralu 2016: The most awaited celebration of Krishna Pushkaralu 2016 is ahead on 12th August till 23rd August. Many of the pilgrims are going to take part in Pushkara Snanam. Why Pushkaralu is celebrated for every 12 years?
There is a mythological story behind pushkaralu. As per the popular story, after a lot of penance (Tapas) lord Shiva granted him a boon to a Brahmin. The Brahmin (Pushkar) is having the boon to make the river holy and clean. Brhspathi requested Pushkara to go into each river for every 12 years and make the river holy. This is the story popular as per the Jathaka Parijatha.
Krishna Pushkaralu is the special festival that is particularly celebrated at Krishna river. It is the ancient Indian tradition of celebrating pushkaralu. For every 12 years the river gets more spiritualised, sacred as per Hindu purana’s. At that time, people used to take bath in holy river to get the blessings of god. The Pushkar or pushkaralu is going to be celebrated for 12 holy rivers such as Ganga, Narmada, Saraswathi, Yamuna, Godavari, Krishna, Kaveri, Bhima, Tapti, Tungabhadra, Sindhu, Pranhita rivers.
Krishna Pushkaralu Special Focus
Last year in 2015, Godavari pushkaralu were completed with great celebrations. The last Krishna pushkaralu were held in 2004, and now the arrangements are in process for Krishna pushkaralu 2016.
Government of Andhra Pradesh is striving hard to provide all arrangements at pushkara ghats for devotees. Also CM Chandrababu Naidu is taking special care on arrangements of pushkaralu. CM is inviting PM Narendra Modi, chief ministers of various states, chief justice and many other big personalities to take the honour of Krishna pushkaralu.
The Krishna Pushkaralu will be held at Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states grandly. All the ghat arrangements are in progress.
Krishna Pushkaralu 2016 Dates, Arrangements
The holy celebration of Krishna Pushkaralu is staring on 12th August and ends by 23rd August. The celebrations will be done in both the Telugu states Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Krishna Pushkaralu will be celebrated at the banks of the river. Krishna river is spread in Krishna, Guntur, Kurnool, Prakasam , Khammam, Nalgonda, and Mahboobnagar districts. In those districts the pushkara ghats will be prepared for the pilgrims. All the medical, food, water, help facilities will be provided for the people who come s to take part in pushkara snanam.
Most of the devotees are expected to reach Vijayawada, as the Krishna river is mainly flowing at Vijayawada. This year the government is planning provide full security for the devotees.
