Oakhill School is an independent day school and nursery, educating boys and girls from three months to sixteen years.

By Carmel Crouch, principal, Oakhill.

Located in Whalley, in the heart of the Ribble Valley just off the A59, it is nestled in beautiful private wooded grounds with secure on site car parking.

Open to all, Oakhill has received the highest grades of excellence in teaching, pupil’s personal development, pastoral care and welfare, governance, leadership and management from the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI). The school also has an Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ for Oakhill Nursery and Early Years.

Oakhill has an excellent reputation for its caring, family environment. Oakhill provides an individual education, which is achieved through one stream entry and small class sizes, which allow the school to focus on each pupil and really get to know them well. Greater knowledge and understanding of each pupil leads to happy, confident and successful students.

A zero tolerance of bullying and the close-knit nature allows the freedom to study without the pressures of the outside world and the need to grow up too quickly.

Oakhill is also pioneering in rolling out a 1:1 iPad scheme for every pupil from Year 3 to GCSE Year 11. Oakhill concurs with Apple in believing that technology has the power to transform the classroom, by paving new ways of thinking, learning and generating ideas. An implementation noted by the ISI, that pupils developed very positive attitudes to learning and could apply themselves to their work with evident pride.

Sport is a significant feature at Oakhill, which boasts access to Oakhill Leisure including a county standard Sports Hall and Gym, extensive sports pitches and courts and soon to be developed floodlit 3G all weather pitch. Lacrosse and rugby are joining the curriculum this term. Again, the individual nature of the school allows for all to participate in teams and compete.

Do come and see for yourself at our Open Evening on Tuesday 4th October between 6pm and 8pm and experience Oakhill’s unique learning environment.
