Two Groups to Work Together to Promote a Fairer and Safer Digital Identity Ecosystem to Support the Digital Economy
WAKEFIELD, Mass., USA – October 26, 2016 — Kantara Initiative, which provides strategic vision and real-world innovation elements for the digital identity transformation, and the Personal Data Ecosystem Consortium (PDEC), which works to empower people with their personal data, announced today that they will execute a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) The MOU will enable member collaboration and knowledge sharing to help enhance the Digital Economy. The MOU will be signed at the 2016 Internet Identity Workshop (IIW) in the Computer History Museum, Mountain View, CA. Kantara is a co-sponsor of the 2016 IIW. The IIW is one of the most influential digital identity events of its kind.
Kantara and PDEC to Work Together
The purpose of the MoU is to formally recognize the existing common aims and juxtapositions of the two organizations as well as to be supportive of each other for mutual and wider collective benefit. The two groups will share relevant market and technical information, publications, results of research and other content that each organization would otherwise provide only to its own members and/or participants, and will participate in each other’s working groups and committees.
Kantara and PDEC will carry out additional cross-organization outreach, initiatives and activities that may be agreed to in future.
“PDEC and Kantara are both respected members of the personal identity and privacy community that includes a range of like-minded organizations striving for a fairer and safer identity ecosystem to support the digital economy,” said Colin Wallis, executive director, Kantara Initiative. “It makes sense for us to work together toward shared goals, while maintaining our individual identities: we will both be strengthened by this collaboration, while maintaining our individual paths that differentiate us, in pursuit of the greater good.”
“We look forward to the fruits of this cooperation, as we have so much in common, particularly the respect our two organizations’ approaches have for personal data, digital identity and privacy,” said Dean Landsman, PDEC executive director. “Collaboration is already a key aspect of PDEC’s work, as we bring together technologists and business leaders in a range of industries. Establishing a relationship with a non-profit peer such as Kantara Initiative will lead to significant opportunities and deliver important synergies.”
