John Wood Community College has a program that makes it easy to take high-quality, noncredit online courses. JWCC has partnered with ed2go and UGotClass to offer hundreds of online, instructor-led courses and is pleased to announce the launch the latest offerings.  Cost of the courses range from $95 to $345.

Romance Writing - Participants will learn tips and techniques for penning a romance novel that will make readers swoon. Novice and experienced writers alike will benefit as they master the skills needed to craft three-dimensional characters, tap into emotions, control pacing, create believable dialogue and write stories that romance readers will love.

Introduction to Microsoft Project 2013 - Participants will discover how to effectively plan, implement, manage and control projects using the world’s most popular project management software. From sequencing tasks, producing a baseline and assigning resources and costs, to tracking progress, analyzing variances, and revising a project plan, students will learn how to use Microsoft Project to manage projects quickly and effectively.

Photoshop Elements 12 for the Digital Photographer - Participants will learn how to use Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 to successfully edit and fix photos and digital images. This course is perfect for beginners who’ve never used Elements before and those who are upgrading from an earlier version of the software.

Common Core Standards for English Language Arts K-5 - Participants will discover the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for English language arts and gain confidence in applying them to the K-5 classroom. The four English language strands—reading, writing, speaking and listening, and language— will be explored along with the roles of technology, homework, curricula and assessments in the classroom.

Preston Bailey’s Signature Wedding & Event Design - Participants will learn the step-by-step processes and techniques utilized by one of the leading wedding and event experts, industry pioneer Preston Bailey. This course is a comprehensive “how-to” for the industry, providing insight on how students can turn a wedding into a one-of-a-kind, magical event for any couple and their guests. The course provides real behind-the-scenes footage, photographs, and documentation. Students will also learn how to capture the high-end market and manage, structure, and price their services.

Preston Bailey’s Fundamentals of Floral Design -Participants will learn the fundamentals of floral design from wedding expert Preston Bailey. The course is designed for beginners who have no experience with flowers, flower arranging, or floral design. Students will gain a strong foundation in the basics needed to become professional florists.

Preston Bailey’s Intermediate Floral Design - This course is a continuation of Preston Bailey’s Fundamentals of Floral Design for participants who want to advance knowledge and skills.  From designing table tops to creating floral sculptures and room transformations, students will learn effective design techniques and processes. Students learn how to utilize a design formula to properly plan, design, price and execute a floral design to make a profit.

Certified Wedding Planner - This new class includes table etiquette with a lesson on tableware, flatware and glassware. It teaches proper place settings and menu selections, which include food and wine pairing and methodology for professional event planning.  

Introduction to Lightroom 5 - Participants in this course will learn how to use the tools in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5 to organize and edit their images, fine-tune lighting and color and develop an efficient image processing workflow. All students, from busy parents shooting baby pictures to professional photographers, will see how Lightroom 5 can help them get the results they want in less time.

Designing Successful Webinars, Managing & Marketing Webinars - Discover the power of successful webinars for your business organization.  Learn the four key strategies to make webinars more successful and acquire techniques and tips to make your webinars winners with your audiences.  Then acquire the webinar planning skills involved in budgeting, pricing and marketing webinar meetings.

These courses are part of JWCC‘s growing catalog of more than 300 instructor-facilitated online courses. Through well-crafted lessons, expert online instruction, and interaction with fellow students, participants in these courses gain valuable knowledge at their convenience. Classes have flexibility for students to study at their own pace combined with enough structure and support to complete courses. The classroom is accessible 24/7 from anywhere with an Internet connection.

New sessions of each course run every month and last six weeks. Two new lessons are released weekly (for a total of 12). The courses are entirely Web-based with comprehensive lessons, quizzes and assignments. A dedicated professional instructor facilitates every course; pacing learners, answering questions, giving feedback and facilitating discussions.
