Public Invited to Meet Candidates during Public Sessions to be Held in Quincy, Mt. Sterling and Pittsfield
The interview schedule for the next two finalists for the presidency at John Wood Community College has been announced. Interviews will take place February 4 through 7. The JWCC Board of Trustees has invited the finalists to visit the Quincy campus and outlying centers as part of the interview process. Each candidate will meet with staff, faculty, students, search committee, Trustees and members of the community.
Specific sessions are scheduled for the public to have the opportunity to ask questions and complete a feedback form for each candidate.
Dr. Carlee Drummer, executive director of college advancement at Oakton Community College in Des Plaines, will interview February 4 and 5.
Drummer has served in her current position since 2001. Previously, she served as vice president at Lipman Hearne, Inc. in Chicago for five years. Over the course of her thirty plus years of professional experience, she has served as the associate vice president for communications and associate professor of English at Carthage College in Wisconsin, the manager of public relations and communications for the New York Public Library, the director of public relations and publications at Baruch College in New York, director of communications and advertising for Hygiene Industries/Nabisco in New York, and as an English instructor at State University of New York (SUNY) Stony Brook.
Drummer received both a master’s degree and Ph.D. in English from SUNY Stony Brook and a bachelor’s degree in English from Wittenberg University in Ohio.
A public session is scheduled for Drummer in Mt. Sterling on February 4 from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at JWCC’s facility at 108 N. Capitol. The candidate will visit Pittsfield for a public session from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. on the same day at the JWCC Pittsfield Education Center at 1308 W. Washington. Drummer will be available for public questions at JWCC’s campus in Quincy on February 5 from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. in the Mary Ellen Orr Auditorium.
Michael Elbe, JWCC vice president for student services, will interview February 6 and 7.
In Elbe’s current role, he serves as chief student services administrator for student service areas including admissions, financial aid, advising, registration, records, student support services, TRIO grants, Veteran services, career services, student life and athletics. Over the course of his 26 years of professional experiences at four, four- year colleges and on two occasions at John Wood, he has served as director of student life and athletics at JWCC, assistant dean of students and director of athletics at the University of Dubuque in Iowa, academic advisor at the University of North Carolina in Wilmington and resident director at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian College in Laurinburg North Carolina. Elbe also served on the faculty at each of the four-year colleges where he was employed.
Elbe is currently a doctoral candidate in Educational Leadership at William Woods University and earned an Educational Specialist in Administration (Ed.S.) this past fall as part of his doctoral work. He received a Master of Science in education from the University of South Alabama and a Bachelor of Science in education from Quincy University with a state of Illinois teaching certificate. Elbe attended John Wood before transferring to Quincy College to complete his bachelor’s degree.
On February 6, a public session will be held with Elbe at JWCC’s Mt. Sterling Education Center from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. and at the College’s Pittsfield Education Center from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. The public is invited to a session with Elbe in Quincy on February 7 from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. in the Mary Ellen Orr Auditorium.
JWCC President Dr. John Letts will retire March 31. Trustees hope to select a candidate for his successor in the next two months.
