We are looking for a dynamic and innovative Career Practitioner to join our careers service.

The Careers and Employability Service, based in Student Services, provides high quality information, advice and guidance to a diverse student body.  The service also offers an established programme of employer engagement activities, events and several work experience programmes. Our Career Practitioner team operates in an exciting, fast paced environment offering expert support to students in relation to their career and professional development.  As a member of this team, you will contribute to establishing innovative ways to embed careers and employability within the university framework.

You will be responsible for preparing and presenting materials using a variety of delivery methods through our central Events Calendar, and work with students on an individual basis.  You will also work with a colleague to design and deliver bespoke careers programme within the Faculty of Social, Human and Mathematical Sciences.

To support your Faculty work you will build effective working relationships with Faculty staff and relevant employers, and develop an appropriate knowledge of relevant employment sectors and opportunities.

You will also have the opportunity contribute to projects and other activities facilitating the on-going development of the service.

We are seeking individuals with excellent team, organisational and project management skills; able to deliver to deadlines and manage multiple activities.  You will be a confident, credible and inspirational individual with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, keen to push the boundaries of traditional careers work.

You will have a recognised qualification in careers guidance, or relevant experience, ideally with recent experience of providing advice and guidance within a Higher Education context.  You will be able to provide evidence of sector knowledge and demonstrate successful outcomes achieved through influencing key stakeholders such as senior managers within an education environment or business in relation to employability.

Applicants should be able to commit to evening and occasional weekend work as a requirement of the role.

This post is offered on a permanent basis offering a salary of £28,982.  Further benefits of this role include the opportunity to join the University pension scheme, 30 days annual leave and access to a number of employee discount schemes.
