The Strategy & Planning department is responsible for the University’s strategic planning framework. We provide a focal point within the University for policy advice, strategic planning, co-ordination of business planning processes, performance monitoring and reporting, supporting institution-wide change initiatives.

To help shape the University’s future and the development of appropriate strategies, we undertake market research, environmental scanning and the collection and analysis of business intelligence. Other key responsibilities include student number planning, risk management (including production of the University Risk Register), quality assurance of statutory data returns, monitoring of league tables and benchmarking.

As part of a programme of expansion for our market intelligence capacity, we have need of a Management Information and Reporting Specialist to conduct the following activities:

1. To review existing reporting / management information taken from data (internal and external sources) that relates to applicants, students and staff.

2. To develop a range of accurate and timely management information reports for use by University managers in decision making processes.

3. To embed these reports into existing systems (e.g. Qlikview) and processes (e.g. admissions reporting, business planning).

In order to get up to speed quickly in this fixed term post, you must have prior experience of working with Qlikview, Banner and Discoverer, as well as strong proven experience of working with large databases to create insight and intelligence. A can-do attitude combined with a problem-solving and flexible nature will be required, as will experience of working in the higher education sector.
