We are seeking a talented communicator with a passion for research.
The successful applicant will investigate the policy, environment, attitudes, use and successes of software across a wide range of research disciplines; determine effective ways of disseminating the results of these investigations; and then prepare communications for websites, social media, press and printed materials.
The position requires a person with excellent communication skills, an ability to quickly understand issues from a wide range of disciplines and a passion for making complex issues understandable. The successful applicant will be a lateral thinker who will relish working in an environment where their novel ideas will be implemented.
The Software Sustainability Institute is a national facility for cultivating world-class research through software. The Institute is based at the universities of Edinburgh, Manchester, Oxford and Southampton. It is a cross-disciplinary organisation that has worked with research fields as diverse as climate change and nuclear fusion.
The successful applicant will join the Institute’s newly formed policy team, and will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the long-term direction of this national organisation.
The position will be based at the University of Southampton in the Faculty of Physical and Applied Sciences. The salary will range from £27,578 to £33,884 dependent on experience.
